What does it actually feel like to sink back into your body? Does it feel sudden. Jarring you awake. The way nightmares shake your soul to life in the middle of the night? Do you settle in like a bath. Warm water and soft music. Silence or a little jazz. Do you wake up one day and suddenly realise you are looking out of your own eyes again. Does it happen gradually. The way the wine sinks down to the bottom of your belly? Or do you knock it back. Do you settle down the way the rocks sink to the bottom of the river and rest there knowing that only the strongest of currents will move them again. Or is it a leaf that settles on surface of the ocean just to be tossed about by the wind and waves again. Maybe it’s like a raindrop growing heavy in the clouds before it gets pulled down to earth. One or the other. Or maybe a combination of each one. That every time We learn to settle a little differently. That after every encounter The settling looks different. Sometimes we are the rock. Other times the nightmare. I think all that matters is that we sink back down. That we sit back down.
