I don’t ever not blog because I don’t know what to write about.  I always have a lot to say!  I don’t always have time to sit down and write.  Especially lately, I am on a mission to organize and get my house straightened around. Â
It’s something else when “going down to clean my basement” becomes my reward for typing up the OT reports that are due!!!
I mentioned that I ran to Salvation Army at the end of the day on Saturday looking for palm tree stuff in my last blog.  When I was there, I happened to find a few things for my grand daughters.  When I got home, I was putting the things in the washer, and discovered that I was missing one thing that I bought.  I checked the receipt - yep I had bought six things and only had five.  I was missing these cute Columbia thermal pants or “long johns”, but mostly I thought they’d be pajama pants for Haley.  They were cute.  Neon pink with green camo.  I thought she’d like them.  And can’t beat Columbia for a brand name.
But they were nowhere to be found. Â I checked the car, the counter where I set the bag and the laundry room floor.
So today, I planned to get there when they opened, since they weren’t open on Sunday, I was one of the last customers on Saturday, I’d figured it had shown up.
I stood at the counter for no less than five minutes waiting for someone, anyone to ask to help me.  The counter clerk was buy using various colored markers on the dry erase board listing every single sale that was going on today.  She put much effort and artistry into her work there as I stood at the counter thinking, If she put have as much effort into waiting on the customer, I’d be one happy camper right now.
Okay, thoughts aside.  She finally came to the counter and I showed her my receipt and my price tags and explained that I thought my camo pj pants hadn’t gotten put in my bag on Saturday night.  She picked up a milk crate and said, “Anything that gets left behind gets put in here in a bag.  There are shoes.  A vase and a pair of jeans.  Yours is not in here.”
So I asked politely, seeing the silliness in all this, “So, if I go look on the rack and find it, I will have to buy it again?”
She said, “Yes.”   I was annoyed because it is such a specific item.  How often could I EVER tell you the brand of something I bought, let alone what size and colors??  C’mon, if I found it, obviously I paid for it.  It’s $2.99 people.  It’s Salvation Army.  I found myself thinking very loudly in my head, Do you know how many boxes I have donated to this place the past couple weeks.????????
I put my stuff back in my purse and said, “I’m not interested in buying it again” and walked out the door.
When I got to the door, I heard her paging a manager overhead.  My thought was, Is she doing that for me?  She didn’t even tell me?  That probably would have been a better solution to the ones she presented me at the beginning. Â
I kept walking.  It wasn’t one I wanted to advocate for myself.  I’d done enough of that this past week.  We can live without the cute camo pj pants.  And who knows, maybe they really are here.  Maybe they fell behind the couch or under something in the laundry room, or in the toy box???
