These Valentine Sugar Cookies are the ideal Valentine's Day treat to express your love and affection. They're buttery and soft, and lovingly decorated.
Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. 3 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon salt. Red food coloring gel. Heart-shaped cookie cutters. Sprinkles and frosting for decorating.
Instructions: Mix the softened butter and sugar in a large bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix them in well. Mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt together in a different bowl. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ones one at a time and mix them together until a soft dough forms. Separate the dough into two pieces. To make one part red, add red food coloring gel and knead it until it's the color you want. Put both pieces of dough in the fridge for at least an hour after wrapping them in plastic wrap. Warm your oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on a baking sheet. Spread the chilled dough out on a floured surface until it's about 1/4 inch thick. Cutting out cookies in the shape of hearts is easy. Just put them on the baking sheet that has been prepared. For 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden, bake the cookies. For a few minutes, let the cookies cool on the baking sheet. Then, move them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once the cookies are cool, you can use frosting and sprinkles to make them look however you want. Enjoy these tasty Valentine's Day sugar cookies with the people you care about.
