Dusk was sweeping into Enchantra forest.

Linnet had to head on home. But she didn’t want to. Tonight was one of those nights when Linnet didn’t feel like she had a home, not in Enchantra Hollow, and not in the dorms where she sure as hell was not welcome. The only place that fit her was right here in this glen, trees on all sides and wildflowers brushing at Linnet’s ankles. She’d sat with her guitar for several hours all on her lonesome, scribbling out melodies and putting down some lyrics, though she wasn’t convinced the two belonged together yet either. Maybe it was two songs she was working on at the same time. Maybe it was a half of something. She’d have to sleep on it. 

But not yet. She was procrastinating picking a direction to go in. Town or hollow, town or hollow…

She picked up a wildflower and thought it might help her out. 

“Town,” she plucked a petal. “Hollow,” she plucked another. “Town. Hollow. Town…”

A crack in the forest.

But Linnet didn’t pay it no mind. She loved the scattered music of the forest, from breaking sticks to falling leaves to the brook bubbling. Made her feel less alone.
