This is not good. This is very, very not good. She's been dreaming of this for a while, a demon whose heart was Rome and that burned all those years ago, taking his heart with it. And now he was here at the Pagan Nation. She had made all the others leave earlier that week and she could only hope that they had fled in the opposite direction. She had already lost some when they had beaten the Fear Machine, but now, they couldn't risk losing any others. She couldn't lose Marj. She just couldn't. Nor Mercury, they had become close since John had left a few years prior. She had farewelled them with a kiss to the brow and to the lips and a promise to protect their land. Because it wasn't just any land, it was full of magic, a magic that they both tapped into and protected. And it was under threat from the demon that was walking towards her with a devil may care smile. It was unnerving to say the very least.
Clutching her hands by her sides, she flexes them. She's not armed that well, just a pair of knuckledusters and a knife strapped to her thighs, but that wasn't much when you were up against a demon. Oh, how she wished that John was there, or at least Chas, who was a bit like John but slightly more sane and without the death toll. Now she was just panicking eternally and she was positive that it was showing in her eyes. And that wasn't a good thing. When facing evil or danger, you have to be calm and show no fear, give no tells because otherwise they can use it against you. She wasn't weak, she'd faced off against god and survived baby free. She could survive a little demon. She could protect her lands from him. This was going to be fine. Perfectly and utterly fine. Head up, eyes crazy and a devil may care smile right back on her face.Â
