What sävelkieli to use in the piece was a very complicated question, I choose to appeal to fairly post-tonal treatment as it would suit better not only for the context of the text but for the context of the piece being written for a specific concert surrounded by baroque/renaissance music.

Yes, for me, Salve Regina has always been a text about mercy, about asking for a better life after the worst has happen, I tried to convey the positive of the message in the music without completely turning my head to the overall sadness of the general text.

In the old sense of the word, it’s not, as it was not written for the organization of the church, I would classify it more as a “music inspired by religious fate”.

The piece tries to convey emotions in an exaggerated way, inspired by the decadency of burlesque.

I tried to write a piece that works both in itself and surrounded by music from different eras.

It depends on the piece, this piece I decided to let myself be influenced by the performers, as I know some of them personally and I have worked with them in the past, so I decided to write something comfortable that hopefully makes them show their strengths.
