Chill for Mommy

Wanda sits in the car for a long time, staring apprehensively at the cabin. Â Sheâs pleased to note the holly bushes she planted beneath the window are proudly sporting bright crimson berries, cheerful droplets of red scattered throughout the fresh layer of snow.
The little Christmas tree sheâd brought a month earlier still sat in the window, ornaments twinkling and gleaming in the moonlight. Â She wondered if heâd ever take it down, or if it would simply become a permanent fixture in the cabin. Â Well, she certainly wouldnât remove it, if he didnât. Â Let him have a little splash of warmth and color throughout the year. Â
Maybe it makes him feel a little more alive. Â Lord knows she can sympathize with that.
And speaking of him--here he is, now, heading straight for the car. Â She can tell by his gait he hasnât realized itâs her, yet. Â Sighing heavily, she steels herself, then opens the car door, poking her head out and waving.
âHey there, sweet potato. Â Been enjoying the snow?â
