I feel like this fandom doesn't understand just how bad Lucifer is even if the whole apple thing was done out of benevolence.
It still caused literally everything bad that happens, and the worst part? Luci doesn't even seem to feel any remorse, he just hated sinners and that's it, he doesn't apologize to Adam, he doesn't feel bad, he instead writes "the story of hell" that portrays him as someone who just wanted good and was a rebellious dreamer who was oppressed by heaven. It's so obviously not true if you just look at heaven we've seen in the show -A happy, sunshine rainbows joy and whimsy land where everyone is happy. Do you seriously believe he was oppressed by those people? That Speaker of God allowed it? He plays the victim when in reality he's the cause of all the suffering, if it wasn't for him, redemption wouldn't even be needed because humanity would be happy in paradise without sin. He claims that he gave humans free will, but did he really? Lilith already ran from Adam and fell for Lucifer, which was an obvious act of free will. Either the writers don't know the basic definition of "free will", or they just ignored it because Lucifer has to be the innocent baby who did no wrong. The fact that he didn't mean any harm (which is still not 100% provable), he is still guilty of causing every bad thing that has ever happened on earth. He is the one who's responsible for creation of hell, he is the one who created the ars goetia and therefore established an oppressive racial hierarchy between hellborns. So much for "rebellious dreamer". He doesn't seem to care about imps being kept as slaves for the royalty and doesn't even bother to step up when Stolas is stripped of his power. Seems like being a neglectful father runs in his blood, considering he was absent for Charlie too. If he is such a freedom fighter, then why doesn't he create an actual righteous system that doesn't oppress the hellborn? but instead, he locks himself up with his rubber duckies and seems to be ignoring everything that happens around him. He is the one who caused it all, why can't he help sinners and hellborns alike? He isn't the poor victim of circumstances that the story makes him to be- he is a terrible king, terrible father and terrible husband. Speaking of that, while the story might make him look like the most faithful, loving partner to Lilith, this isn't the case. He tells Adam that he slept with Eve, and even if it isn't true, he is still reducing a woman to a conquest to mock Adam, who has every right to be angry at him. After all, he took his first wife, possibly the second, made him exiled from Eden, caused his first son to become evil and second to die, ruined the lives of every single one of his descendants. And still, the show makes it as if Adam is the bad one for cleaning the mess Lucifer made.
To end this post, I'm just gonna say that Lucifer is possibly the worst written character in fiction and the entire thrope of "the devil is good" needs to go.
