What makes someone a woman in your framework and why should that definition override how law, medicine, and lived reality already function?
What makes someone a woman?
An adult female human being.
One is born female.
Female infant to female toddler to female child to female teen, to young adult female(young woman) to adult female (woman).
You're starting this based on patriarchal cultural gender roles that have defined 'woman' as whatever changed in that particular decade or century. Many women were not considered women or even human(more like animals or property) at one point or another. Absolutely the definition of woman can change based on who or what is dominating the social landscape/society.
For me, there is not something that "makes" you a woman. You are either born female or you're not.
In short:
Because social and gender definitions can be manipulated by culture and politics, it would be best that the word 'Woman' remain a biological category, or it's first definition;
And why should that definition override how law, medicine, and lived reality already function?
Except this has never overrode any of these systems. If anything it is attempting to shoehorn trans women(men) into these areas or systems has caused such zealous overcorrection that we've gone on to see these systems disregard what women say and their safety. We've seen these system bend to the will of men in dresses and assure us that yes, they too can be women because they've put on the gender specific clothing items that's been marketed towards women. Yes, they too can have periods. Yes they too should be housed with vulnerable women in prisons and Yes, these males are absolutely lesbians and should not be discriminated against because otherwise you're a bigot.
We've seen men shape society and culture and media tell us what and who they consider to be women. We're seeing it happen again, only now they're wearing dresses and insisting they have always felt like a woman while having enjoyed all the privileges of being male. For some of them, this was discovered at 2am and through a sissy hypno pornhub video.
It seems that they've attempted to correct in such a manner that they've taken gender expression to mean gender identity. Yikes.
Medicine?
A lot of what's being done to these individuals that fully believe they are the opposite sex is experimental. They really are treating them like mister potato head pieces, attempting to exchange parts and not truly caring about the individuals. It's negligent at best. Most of these individuals will forever have to dilate a wound that will continue to try to close or shorten for the rest of their lives.
Being a woman is a lived material reality. A trans person has never truly lived as the other sex. They have dressed and imitated the other sex, sure but they've never actually lived as that sex.
