National Association of Home Builders Reports on Housing in February

According to a report from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), activity related to home building improved modestly in February of 2016. Government estimates showed that there was a 5.2 percent increase in housing starts, bringing the yearly pace to 1.178 million multi-family and single-family residences. In the single-family market, housing starts increased by more than 7 percent over January to reach the highest rate since late 2007. The NAHB also reported that census estimates showed an increase in new home inventory and new single-family home sales in February. Despite concerns about supply-side constraints, builder sentiment remained generally positive, according to the NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index.
