The hallway was almost infinite, to the girl who poked her head out. The tiny brunette looked up one side of the hall, then the other, making sure that she was alone in her misadventure. Listening for a moment, she made sure she couldn't hear Mama or Daddy up, or anyone else for that matter. Once sure the house was settled, the adults and her fellow children all asleep, she grinned happily, tiptoeing towards the stairs.
One step at a time, the pajama-clad child made her way to the first floor, breathing through her mouth after the exertion. Peering back up the stairs, as if afraid Daddy would be looming to herd her back to bed, she found she was still alone. Good. The tiny brunette beamed at her own mischief, walking towards the kitchen. The hood of her bear pajamas fell backwards, letting her long brown hair loose, but she did not mind. All that mattered was one thing.
Chocolate milk. It was the love of her life, apart from crayons and her puppy and... well, lots of things. Still, chocolate milk ranked very high. Stepping towards the thread, the chubby five year old reached out to grip the door to the fridge, pulling it open. Looking up, she found herself distressed.
The chocolate milk was far too high for her to reach.
