Ralbert HCs (Red and Blue)
These are just a few HCs I came up with about their childhood in particular, all having to do with some nicknames they had for each other.
So, Albert and Race met when they were 6 years old
This was years before they met the other newsie boys
I personally hc that getting a nickname in with the newsies pretty much is just they give you a nickname based on the first big thing about you they notice.
(Jack is Cowboy because when he made his first group of friends in elementary, he always wore a dumb cowboy hat, Mush is Mush because Jack noticed he had a lisp and mushed his words together on occasion, Blink was Blink because Jack had asked him why he always made his hair cover one of his eyes, and he said it was because he had a glass eye, Specs is Specs because his glasses looked too big for his face when he was young, etc. etc.)
So, when Race met Jack in middle school by running directly into him, trying to run from the Delancey’s, Jack called him Racetrack because he was running so fast.
When Race introduced Albert to Jack and the other boys, Jack tried calling Albert, “Red” because of his hair.
Race immediately told him no, he couldn't call Albert that, that was only his nickname for him.
It started when Race and Albert met back in first grade. Race was young and really bad with names, so even after Albert introduced himself, Race still couldn’t remember it, so he started calling him Red. It was easy to remember, due to his fiery red hair. Albert liked it, so he let him call him that.
Race didn’t have a nickname from Albert, though. He was just Eddie.
(My hc name for Race is Edward, okay, leave me alone.)
So, one day, he started calling Race, Blue.
Race went along with it, assuming he was just calling him Blue to be a good counterpart to Albert being Red.
So there they were. Red and Blue.
It wasn’t until years later when Albert started calling Race, Blue again, seemingly out of nowhere,
(Or you could say it came out of the blue, if you hate yourself, like me)
And it wasn’t until then, in high school, where Race finally asked Albert why he started calling Race Blue all the way back then.
“Your eyes. They’re a really pretty blue color. You told me you called me Red due to my hair being a striking red color that got your attention, so I called you Blue, because I felt the same about your eyes.”
But yeah! So just some little hcs like that, because I came up with that idea a little while ago and forgot about it, but I thought it was cute so I wanted to share! Thanks for reading until the end if you did! I don’t do HC posts often, maybe I should do them more. Who knows?
