There’s a total of 4 main stations at the gondola and the main entrance is not very far from the same metro station (Maokong Gondola Taipei Zoo Station) that brought you to the Zoo.

Taipei zoo station – This is the main station to get started

Taipei zoo south station – This leads to the backdoor of the zoo. Try this if walking through the main entrance is too mainstream.

Zhinan temple station – There’s a famous and beautiful temple here on the cliff.

Mao Kong station – This is the ending stop where you get to visit tea plantations and farms.

In day time the view is quite breathtaking and if this isn’t enough for you then you can opt for the jewel cars with transparent bottom! The under cabin view is definitely kids favourite as we saw quite a number of them with their face flat on the ground ogling at the view. Kind of errrrr disgusting if you think how clean the floor can be but anyway the kids should be fine.

If you managed to the sunset while on the Gondola, I bet its pretty awesome.. We tried and unfortunately the queue was too unpredictable sooo we had to make do with the night scene.

    To be fair the night scene was still pretty awesome. So high up with the entire city looking like their are on fire. But just a point to note. If it’s night time, don’t bother the jewel cabins…

Jewel cabin but can’t see shit

Once you reach the top, you find some stalls set up along the street like night market style. Along the roads you’ll find some farms, tea plantations and restaurants. This place is quite well known for yum cha. We saw many locals here with families, sipping tea and chit chatting but thats all for now. We’ll share our art of drinking tea episode in the next post.

Conclusion

It cost only 50 NT for this ride that lasted 15~20 mins! Is that like 10 times cheaper than Singapore!? Not sure what’s the price of cable car to Sentosa but Mao Kong is surely much more worth it.
