MOON 2
Downypaw had gone a bit too far away from their territory. He could hear the clacking of wheels. The humans! He hid in the underbrush. Human language was always gibberish to cats, besides a select few words. One of them was their name. Another was what they called Downypaw’s species, “cats”, often with disdain. So when a human said “cat” in a friendly voice, it surprised him.
He watched as a family of them lay down some weird looking flat object on the ground. Some of them always seemed ruffly, with their colored outfits. Why did humans wear that stuff anyways? Was their skin too plain for them?Â
Downypaw stayed still, watching them go. They were eating some kind of food. Once they were headed back to their clacking carriage, one of them dropped something. A feather? How interesting! It had some odd black thing stuck on the end. So he quickly swiped it.
“You didn’t bring ANYTHING BACK?” Buzzardbeetle chastised. “I did! Look, I had to wait for the humans to leave. They wouldn’t go for the longest time..” The adult cat sighed. She couldn’t be mad at him. Besides, he had a weird two-leg object. “Sorry Downypaw.. What did you find anyways?” The apprentice shrugged. “I don’t know, but I’m giving it to my younger brother.”
Cloverpaw’s eyes widened. “WOW! A COOL-LOOKING FEATHER!” Downypaw chuckled. “Yeah! Apparently two-legs use them for.. Some reason.” Cloverpaw crouched, smiling. “Wow, so cool! I’m gonna keep it forever. You’re the best brother I can ask for!” Downypaw smiled to himself. He was doing a great job.
