BUCK Con
So yesterday I went to BUCK con in Manchester - which is basically a convention for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fans. It was bizarre for the most part. I already knew there were a lot of "bronies" - male fans, but to see women outnumbered by men about 70:30 was odd, odd to be in a minority.
All the same, I had a really good time. One of the show's writers, Dave Polsky was there, and he discussed writing, and using Albert Camus and Goethe quotes discussed the importance of fiction not erring exclusively to virtue or cynicism in its presentation of the world. This was part of what makes the show so popular and a reason I love it, unlike other "kids shows" it doesn't feel overly preachy in its approach, characters are three dimensional, make mistakes etc. etc.Β
Now all I need to do is finish season 4!Β

Got a really neat four day weekend planned as I'm turning 22 on Friday (eep).
Friday is family and friends, Saturday is a trip to Durham and on Sunday I'm going to BUCK Con to fangirl over cartoon ponies with my friend. I'm cool like that.
It's lucky Monday is a bank holiday so I can recover!
