HELLOOOOOOO just finished my monthly reread of two parallel lines and I just needed to tell you again how wonderful this fic is and how much I LOVE how obsessed pierre is and just the whole story in general
Is there any chance at all for a sequel? No worries if no just wanted to say thanks for this
helloooooooo thank you sososososoooooooo much for this 💕💕💕 it warms my heart to know someone loves these two idiots as much as i do 💕💕💕
the answer is yes!!! i do have plans for a sequel for it and since we are already here (and you are being so nice to me 😊) i will tell you
it will be a story a few years in the future after they are already mated and have been living their crazy life. charles gets a letter and there’s a little boy who’s 5-ish who has his magic presented and bad things happened to him and the entire story is about charles and pierre navigating helping him (and then later another kid who is also like. not-standard(?)(i have mentioned before that the magic only presents and a wolf only turns when they are grown, around 18 or so and the reason these children are ‘special’ is because the boy’s magic has developed so early and the girl turned into her wolf also so young))
it won’t be your standard scene from their happily ever after but there will be pieces and bits about how their lives have been during the last years and there will be new characters obviously 🤭🤭 and a whole lot of sadness and cuteness
life has been crazy lately (as my almost whole month away from tumblr probably already hinted 😬) but this fic is already a wip with over 10k written and i cannot stop thinking about it ever, i just need to like. have time to be able to work on it as i want to.
i will not say a date or anything because it will probably take a while for me to start posting it though (because i do not expect things to get less hectic now) but know it is being thought about and written.
((I am trying to add a snippy but Tumblr isn't allowing me idk why 😡😡😡))
let's see if this works now, I was gonna say 'since we're here here's the first draft of the prologue':
Charles gets the letter on a random Wednesday while he’s doing some reading and it messes with his entire plan for the day- hell, it messes with his plan for the entire week, maybe month.
He had just finished brewing a big order he received and Arthur had asked him for help with something so Charles took the day off to just read. Pierre is off to the barn with- Yuki, maybe? Charles doesn’t know, all he knows is that he kissed his cheek and left Charles in bed at an ungodly hour and through the bond Charles can tell he’s content and calm and that’s enough.
Charles can tell the moment his emotions turn upside down because he is shaking with it, the paper clasped tightly in his hand. It’s an all-consuming turmoil, so much so that Pierre is suddenly standing in front of him and Charles can’t even hear him, doesn’t even know how he could have gotten there so fast.
“Charlie, what’s wrong?” Pierre is holding his arms, worry flooding his chest but Charles cannot answer, too overcome with- everything.
He pushes the letter against Pierre’s chest, not stepping away because he can’t. Because he thinks if Pierre stops touching him right now he might- accidentally break something or teleport straight into-
“Oh-” Pierre’s voice is soft but Charles can feel the flicker of anger that doesn’t belong to him. He isn’t flooded by it because Pierre blocks the bond, the way he’s learned how to just for when he wants to protect Charles from something ugly he might be feeling.
Charles could easily remove the block, he knows it and Pierre does too. He doesn’t think it would be wise to do so, however – he’s already angry enough on his own.
“I-” Charles opens his mouth but nothing of substance comes out. He tries again, but his jaw hurts so he shuts it again, taking a deep breath.
Pierre is looking at him and it’s been long enough – 6 years – that Charles knows he’s bargaining with his wolf to keep him at bay so he can get Charles’ feelings sorted before he deals with himself. Or- well, bargaining might not be the proper word, but Charles had told Pierre that imagining him and his wolf sitting around a table and discussing the terms in which they would accept to calm down always made him laugh and he’s trying really hard to focus on that right now.
“Love,” Pierre calls softly, running one hand up Charles’ arm and leaning forward to press a kiss against his cheek, “love.”
It’s both softer and harsher the second time and Charles closes his eyes. “I just do not understand- How can someone-”
“I know.” Charles leans forward so he can rest his forehead against Piere’s shoulder. “But this is your choice, yes? You know I will support you and help you, anything you want to do. This is a big thing and I know you- You don’t have to do this, yeah? If you don’t want to, or if you think you won’t be able to. No one will blame you.”
Charles knows what he’s saying is true. He knows, technically, that this is not his responsibility.
But he also remembers, even after all this time, how scared he was the day their bond Presented and he had that magical outburst, and he cannot even fathom how terrified this 4-year old must be right now, with no one to tell him it will be okay or to even really understand him.
Charles likes to believe he’s a good person – his entire job revolves around helping other people and he’s very proud of being able to do that, but really- how much of a good person he could even claim he is if when a situation like this arises and he knows he’s one of the few people who can help- he doesn’t?
Charles knows Pierre himself wouldn’t hesitate to help either, but Charles is always his priority and he just needs to make that very clear because Charles forgets sometimes – that he matters too, that he doesn’t have to do anything.
“How much better than them would I be if I didn’t help though?” Pierre inhales deeply but before he can say anything, Charles lifts his head. “He’s just 4, he’s- this poor child already has all his magic fully developed and he’s four and I don’t even know if I will be able to sleep tonight knowing he’s all by himself and not even understanding what is happening to him.”
Pierre looks into his eyes for a few seconds before saying “Okay. Okay. Just promise me you won’t burn yourself out while you do this.”
Charles hesitates before answering and that’s enough for Pierre to add “No, promise me, because I know you and I know you will burnout if you think it will be worth it but- you will be no help to anyone if you do.”
It’s a good point. Charles has the tendency to push his magic’s limitations and Pierre knows that and he is right. Charles will be of no help if he burns out.
