doc isn’t all that bad right???? obviously marty does not know any better :( pretty much all he’s heard about doctor brown comes straight from needles. so that is pretty much explanatory.

fyi i cant draw backgrounds for the life of me so maybe drawing this with doc’s lab in mind is a really bad idea. don’t expect too much :7

Hey guys, I’ve returned with a possible new series, where I analyze and give my thoughts on covers from the BTTF comics. Since this is the first time I’m doing these, we’re going to focus in on the (preferably) alternate covers from the first ongoing story, Untold Tales and Alternate Timelines. Obviously I can’t talk about every single one, just the ones that I have a lot to talk about. So here we go!

COVER #1

I wanted to mention this one since what’s happening on the cover looks like something from a Back to the Future: The Game fanfiction. Marty and Doc going on another adventure while Jules and Verne tag along. I really like the linework on this one, it looks crisp and, like I previously mentioned, like the BTTF Game. The Artist (Chris Madden) didn’t work on the BTTF Game, But he did do work on the IDW Ghostbusters and G.I Joe Comics. I’m a little concerned about Jules and Verne hanging out of the Delorean like that though. Who knows what could happen to them in the timestream? Well either way, this is a great cover with some nice details.

COVER #2

Ok, I LOVE this cover. I really like the detail in the Delorean and the shading. The colour choices are pretty spectacular as well, with many nice shades of blacks and blues. Marty’s striking a cool pose as he slides across the Delorean like he did in the movie. The bright spark of soft yellow light from the lamp is a great contrast to the cool blues of the background. This cover is very well done and the Illustrator (Sean Murphy) and the Colourist (Matt Hollingsworth) are clearly good at their jobs.

COVER #3

Here’s another cover with a good colour pallet, courtesy of John Hairston. It uses what I call an “Autumn” pallet, with lots of reds, oranges, purples, yellows and greens. The light blue sparks on the cords are again, a great contrast to the background. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cover where it’s completely painted. I actually didn’t notice the disappearing photograph in front of Marty until today. That’s a nice touch. I also like how this cover combines elements from the first and second movies as well.

COVER #4

This is definitely one of my favourite covers from the comics. It has a semi-cartoonish style, but with incredibly realistic shading and lighting. This definitely shines the most with Doc, who has realistic texture while still looking cartoony and unrealistic. It has a very “inbetween” feel that way. I find it a bit funny that Marty has super long legs when it’s the complete opposite in the movie. Of course that’s a very minor nitpick, considering practically all the comics give him longer legs to make him taller. Either way, really good cover from J. Scott Campbell.

I mean I liked it, a lot but what the fuck.

I don't think you can even call a lot of Irving's characterization and actions Fridge Horror when the metaphorical fridge is LEFT OPEN WITH EVERYTHING SPILLING OUT.

hai so this is a small project for me to work on during school soo here is part 1 out of idk of a small comic i’ve been meaning to start on hehe

always wanted to know what led to marty and doc’s weird ass friendship so this is my own take based off a few headcanons other people have :] this takes place summer of marty’s sophomore year i think???? he’s 15 in this and im 15 so i think that makes sense. bear with me.

hoo boy okay this one took me a little longer because i couldn’t figure out what to put into docs lab bc i HATE backgrounds. thats already been expressed but wtvr. also marty does think doc brown is like dead and buried and he broke into this decaying house for nothing 💔

i promise they will interact soon pls i am also sick of zero dialogue and also ONLY drawing marty. i love him but the more i look at him the more i can feel his face deforming as i draw it
