Emmys / Television Academy winning filmmaker and celebrity photographer, Evita M. Castine will be a featured guest and speaker at #BSAMla2017!! June 25, 2017, Leimert Park Village/ The Vision Theatre/ KAOS Network/ LADOT People St. Evita M. Castine is an Emmy Award winning producer, Los Angeles based Director, Actor, and Photographer. As a director, she won the Special Recognition in Directing a Narrative Film Award at the Blackstar Film Festival in 2015, the Audience Award at the Diversity in Cannes Showcase, and the Audience and Social Impact Awards at the One Lens Film Festival. She is also a Horizon Award Directing Finalist a recognition given to on the rise female directors from top industry directors and producers. She is also a Warner Brothers Emerging Director Finalist. She comes from a long line of storytellers from the American South, infused with magical realism, African consciousness, intuition, music and humor. Her mother was the children's choir director, and er father an international business executive who developed her love of language and travel. Her grandmother lived across the street from a juke joint where her love of soul music grew, since she was never allowed to step foot in it, her imagination developed from hearing the sounds, but not being able to see what was happening inside. She is known for her unique sound designs and attention to storytelling through sound. She won a David Alan Harvey Scholarship, founder of BURN MAGAZINE for emerging photographers to workshop a photo series at his Brooklyn loft in 2016 and her series "Cocky Fresh" was born, showcasing her love of people with unique style and personalities. Evita just recently returned from a trip to Cuba doing exclusive film work with Raphael Saadiq and Common. She has also had multiple films featured in Midwest Ethnic Convention for Comics and Arts - MECCA Film Festival, including her multi award winning film, Only Light, and Brick and Lulu.
