fun facts about mosses:
- they do not kill your grass. their presence probably means you have spot where your yard gets too much water, the ph is too acidic, the soil is too compacted, it’s too shady, etc
- in a city (especially a damp one with shady spots) the presence of some moss types can indicate air quality, if you aren’t spraying to kill them that is. no moss generally means bad breathing conditions
- they were used for log house insulation, steaming camas, cleaning fish before smoking them, and as diaper fillers and menstrual pads (the latter which i knew randomly from a story I read years ago)
