Okami OC : (Minor) Brushgod, Kaogami

"How great it is to see you again, oh great Amaterasu, origin of all that is good and mother to us all. The envoys of Darkness made me hide in a mask of my own creation and so much time has passed since your departure that I had nearly forgotten who I am. But your benevolent heart has reminded me of my true face. Please accept the technique of the Heavenly Mask as a token of my eternal gratitude for I know you shall not abuse it."

Kaogami (litt. "Face god")is a minor brushgod whose skill is that of the "Heavenly Mask". With it, she is able to create masks so life-like that whoever sees the mask believes it's truely the face of the being represented. This brushgod takes on the form of a fox, which uses its tail to paint her masks. In her normal form, she's always seen wearing one around her neck. Kaogami is known for her prankster nature, but the masks she wears rarely inflict serious harm. 

When evil rose over the land of Nippon, Kaogami hid in one of her own masks, which can be found at the curiousity shop of Sei'an City. For some reason no one has ever bothered buying it. Amaterasu's power awakens the slumbering Brushgod and is given her skill. With this, Ammy can copy any face to a mask and when worn, she'll be seen as the being who's face she's wearing. A mask is created by drawing a circle with two small strokes in its center. Up to 3 masks can be created this way. This technique uses 3 inkpots per mask.

When first met, Kaogami takes on the form of Ammy (as she is wearing her mask). It isn't until Issun sees the string around her neck and cuts it with his sword that her true face is revealed.

Issun:"Was that the prankster god Kaogami?Than you must have received the Heavenly Mask technique! Now you we won't kicked out of private property anymore! Think of all the babes we can go visit this way. Hehe. ♥♥♥"(at which Ammy starts chewing on him) "Cut it out, Furball! I get it!  But "not abusing" doesn't mean we can't have a little fun, right?"

Kaogami's constellation is that of Vulpecula, the little fox.

I've been playing Ôkami a lot lately, and when I got my hands on some chinese ink brushes for Photoshop, I kind of started doodling with them. And Kaogami is the result. I didn't intend to make an Okami original character, but it just happened, and the idea felt good. As she's not a part of the Zodiac brush gods, her skill is probably optional and only needed for some side quests. You can also turn portraits into masks, btw.
