Girls I couldn’t believe my luck today as I was walking by The Benefit Boutique in Dublin City centre. As we were in the city for a Fathers day treat for Tommo I was using every bit of steely determination I possessed not to wander in. That was until I spied the new stand for all the new brow products that are only been launched on the 24th of June 2016 ( as mentioned in my blog post Browfection ). As you can imagine I just had to investigate and so left Tommo safely in a new bike store he had discovered, and crossed the road and breezed through the doors of Benefit. I thought I was just going to find the stand filled with lots of promotional items and fingers crossed some testers but to my amazement the stand was fully stocked with all the new shiny and exciting products that I have been dreaming of getting my hands on. As I was perusing one of the fabulous Benebabes approached to inform me that they had got their stock in before the launch and have been permitted to sell ahead of the big launch date. I swear I nearly swooned with pure joy!!!!
So when asked if I would like to try a couple of things I popped on to the stool quicker than you can say ‘Yes, please’. So after I had the Gimme Brow I had applied that morning removed the girl showed me the new colour guide, it is kind of like a paint swatch for eyebrows but is laminated with an eyebrow shaped cut out that is placed over your own eyebrow to allow you to match product colour to your own hair and complexion tones. As the old products came in light/medium and medium/dark the new products are all numbered 1, 2, 3…. 1 been the lightest colour so this new colour guide is great as it takes the guess-work out of picking the products. So we discovered through this guide that I am a number 2.
Before we tried out any of the colour products the assistant applied Browvo! a conditioning eyebrow primer. This is a clear gel that you comb through the brows before using any other products and like all primers it will make your brow make up go on better and last longer. It also contains keratin and soy proteins which we know works really well in our shampoos for giving us thicker fuller hair so should do the same for our eyebrows and Benefit are planning to do a 21 day challenge with this new product.
I had already told the assistant I was dealing with I was interested in the new Goof Proof brow pencil and she also suggested trying Precisely, My Brow eyebrow pencil. So she applied Goof Proof on one eyebrow and Precisely, My Brow in the other so I could compare. Now the main difference in these two products is the Goof Proof sticks to the hairs of the eyebrows and the Precisely, My Brow sticks to the hair and skin in order to give the appearance of a fuller brow. And as I have light coloured eyebrows that are full of baby hairs I would have thought that I would have picked Precisely, My Brow but after comparing the two brows I prefered the coverage I got from the Goof Proof better. So once I had made that decision the lovely assistant changed the other eyebrow to Goof Proof and applied a coat of Gimme Brow which sets the eyebrow and boy did they look amazing!!
My brows after all the glorious new products were applied!!
I bought the Goof Proof brow pencil and decided to think about the Browvo! which I wish I had got now ( typical ). I really like the primer already as it has left my brows super soft and it also tames those unruly hairs, you know the ones, that no matter how many times you brush them into place still manage to stick up at awkward angles!! So I definitely will be back to buy that and take on the 21 day challenge. As for the Goof Proof brow pencil I can definitely attest to the fact that it is waterproof as this evening I had to go out on a 3 mile run and it was raining pretty heavily for every single minute I was out there and as you can imagine I was a little sweaty to but even though I was soaked and red-faced I still had immaculate eyebrows!
My advice would be give yourself plenty of time to look at the products and see what you are interested in for your brows. Ask one of the lovely Benebabes to assist you in choosing the right colour for your complexion and the right product for your eyebrows. Basically don’t be shy to try before you buy!! And don’t forget to enjoy every minute of the experience. And if like me you to fancy getting your hands on any of the new brow products ahead of the launch date and making your girlfriends green with envy then head to the Benefit Boutique on South William Street where they have the full array in stock.
Hope you find this helpful,
P.S. I will blog about how I get on using the Benefit Goof Proof brow pencil next week xx
