Brownea grandiceps is in the pea family Fabaceae. Commonly known as Rose of Venezuela, it is native to the tropical rainforests, of Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Honduras. The Rose of Venezuela is a medium sized tree, growing over 20 feet tall. This species produces dense clusters of flowers that are filled with nectar and attract various pollinators such as numerous species of hummingbirds and butterflies. The Rose of Venezuela is also cultivated for the landscape outside of its native range, thriving in tropical and subtropical climates around the world.
