I realized i didn't fully answer this ask about Sunny, so I'll use this ask to talk about when they started applying their powers. Like I said in the other answer, they take Awhile before meeting Spider-Man, and even longer before they actually start using their powers. The entire concept of being a hero is inconvenient to them at best and terrifying at worst.
It isn't until Spider-Man has put his entire heart into trying to spark a hero in Sunny, only to be rejected/told off repeatedly that he finally starts backing off. Just when he's about to give up on them they roll up in their spidersuit like

Of course they suck at their powers cuz at this point they've spent more time designing the fucking suit than actually finding the courage to try web swinging lmao
