prosperina had been there for less than ten minutes and she already wished to go. it wasn’t even that she was sad, though the occasion called for it. she was uncomfortable and she felt as though she didn’t DESERVE to be standing in the potter manor. but, she was there for fleamont - there had never been a doubt in her mind that she had to be there for him. she would let herself believe that the fact that not showing up to henry potter’s memorial would reflect poorly on her and the community’s perspective of her wasn’t one of the reasons she was present. she was sure that fleamont would be wrapped up in a hundred conversations but she was surprised to find him unaccompanied.
her hand reached out to grip his shoulder gently as she approached him, the sympathetic smile on her face actually genuine. “monty - ” she said softly, as if they weren’t standing in a room full of people. she wondered briefly if he could see the guilt that she was wrapped in, but she knew she’d kept too many secrets in her life for anything she didn’t want to show to be reflected on her face. “i’m so sorry.” there was really nothing else she could say - was there? she couldn’t bring his father back. would she if she could?
