Hiro stood in the doorway of Tadashi’s hospital room. Hecould hear his heart thudding in his chest as he stared at the many wires that were attached to his wounded brother. Hiro shook his head before burying it into his hands. A sob escaped from his mouth, which sounded slightly muffled against the pressure of his palms.
“This was not supposed to happen!” Hiro shouted and he flung his arms out in frustration. As quickly as the anger came, it seemed to dissipate and Hiro appeared to visibly deflate as his shoulders dropped and his head bowed. Hiro shook his head and looked back at Tadashi, wishing that it was him in the bed instead of his brother.
Hiro walked forward, his steps heavy and slow, until he reached the wooden chair by Tadashi’s bed. He flopped down into the chair and buried his head into the crook of his elbow, which rested on the edge of Tadashi’s bed.
“Oh Tadashi,” Hiro moaned. “I’m so sorry.”
