I used to think that sassy Izuku was out of character, but surprisingly it isn't. At least, not as much as I initially thought. It's not very often, but Izu can be sassy with the right people, namely his mom, especially in the first two seasons, but he even gets kind of sassy with All Might on occasion. It seems like Izuku is more comfortable being a bit mouthier with people that he trusts and feels safe with because he knows they won't take it personally (like his mom and his friends). Or, he gets mouthy with people that he's standing up to (like Endeavor) to prove that he's not afraid of them.

For example:

All Might:"How did [ofa] feel?"

Izuku: "Like a lot of broken bones."

"Todoroki may be your son, but he isn't you." Translation: Go fuck yourself.

Iida: "I'm sure Bakugou wouldn't use his quirk against a girl, right?"

Izu, having none of your sexist bs: "No, he definitely would."

Inko: "Seven times. That's how many times I passed out after the Cavalry Battle. I'm pretty sure the last two were because of dehydration."

Izuku: "Sounds like you were more heroic than I was."

I love my son.
