I wish I had your courage. My parents view on me wanting to be on broadway is the same as your parents... but I really can't find it in myself to go against what they want for me.. and so im prob never gonna be able to do what I want to do...
I don’t know how old you are, but if you’re early high school (like 9th or 10th) you have time to convince your parents to the idea of going into theatre (Musical Theatre in particular). If you’re in college, like I am, they need to understand that it’s your life. It’s your life to go after what you want, make mistakes and either succeed or say you’ve tried. No matter what, remember that you will never fail- you fail if you never try and you succeed by doing what you love. Broadway or being professional is the icing on the cake
Continue taking voice lessons, take any dance classes possible, read as many acting books you can get your hands on. Do EVERYTHING you can possible do!!! I’m reading an acting book right now and let me tell you, I’m learning so much even if it’s not by “doing”, but by reading! (I suggest you read it: Audition- Everything an Actor needs to know to get the part) If you show me your name, I’ll keep you updated on other books I’m reading :)
