This was so completely normal for them that Dimitri felt just as at home sprawled across Brittia's bed as he did his own. Hell, he'd fallen asleep there enough times it wasn't weird at all. But, then again, Dimitri could fall asleep anywhere. It was kind of a surprise he'd made it this long, especially a little drunk, without crashing.
He didn't know what joke or comment he'd made that had him laughing but it was light and fun and that's all he cared about. So color him surprised when all that giggling turned into lips pressed firmly against his own. Eyes flashed open wide and his first reaction was to pull back, stunned.
It didn't last long.
Almost immediately after, while Britt was begging him to forget what she'd just done, Dimitri was rolling with laughter again. "Shhh," he tried through giggles, reaching out to pull her back in. "C'mere." Failing to stop laughing entirely, even though he was giving it his best try, Dimitri pulled her into another kiss, hand on the side of her face. He was gentle and not overzealous, careful almost.
Oh, she had certainly crossed a line and she had no idea how to take it back. She and Lyri had joked about it for years. Well, Lyri had joked. Britt had lamented. And now, because of too much alcohol, she had done something stupid and likely ruined their entire friendship.
The apologies had still been rolling from her tongue in a quick ramble, the words were only silenced by his lips against her own once more, shutting down her brain almost immediately.
Her hand covered his, fingers shaking as she tried to make sense of what the hell was happening but even that wasn't enough to stop her from returning the kiss, just as careful as if the moment was made of glass.
