On Esbat and Sabbat Apathy
So I see a lot of people say, particularly moderate practitioners (People who have practiced for a couple of years and have some experience.) say that they don't celebrate the esbats, the moon ceremonies, or the sabbats, the seasonal holidays. And that is something that happens to me too. And this is something that I really appreciate about covens is that it gives us support to practice these holidays. I know that sometimes celebrating/doing a ritual can seem like a chore and that many people encounter guilt when they miss a holiday. However, everyone's practice is their own. And if you miss a holiday it's not a big deal. But I would like to make the point that these holidays are supposed to be fun. They are supposed to be a celebration. And having a reason to celebrate and taking the time to celebrate is kind of the point of these holidays. Of course, there is a deep spiritual meaning and purpose, but part of the point is to celebrate and be happy and I think sometimes that gets lost in going through the motions.
