The little touches
Bright orc x reader
@whyiamadegenerate @umber-cinders @the-bitchy-bird @daily-whoreascope
Here it iiiis ! I tagged all of you because you answered me regarding the coin thing (thank you again) but maybe you're not all into the Bright fandom (and that's ok). Based on whatever country uses coins ! đ
It is silly, but it is CUTE.
************************************************************************
Tonight is the night !
You start your new job as a cashier at a nightclub, not far away from your flat.. And with no surprise, the security guard is an orc. Naturally bulky and muscular, they are a first choice for those jobs. Any troublemaker calm the hell down with a simple eye contact.
Anyway, the night goes alright, you two donât speak that much as youâre both focused on your respective job. By the time of the last entry, youâre counting the money to close the cash register. But you notice the pointy ears of your coworker twitch everytime a coin falls in the cash drawer. You slowly turn your head towards him.
âSomethingâs wrong ?â
He looks at you interrogatively.
âYour ears twitchâ, you say, letting an other coin fall⌠and an other twitch of the ear.
âDonât pay attention to that, count the money.â
Itâs a chance you are used to the defensive tone of orcs. Still, you donât understand why heâs acting like that. You focus again. After a minute, you get it.
It must hurt !
The night over, you return home with a plan for the next night. You arrive at work earlier that time, to install your idea (with still a bit of apprehension). Is it gonna work ? The night goes smoothly and the time youâve been waiting for arrived.
You glance discreetly at your coworker, let a coin fall and⌠nothing. You were right: the sound hurts !
As you count, the money falls in the drawer, making only a thud on the velvet you glued at the bottom of it. Only occasionally making a clicking sound. After a couple of second, your coworker turns his head towards you, with a frown. He looks at your hands as they let the coins fall and as your lips counting silently. Then, all smile, you look at him.
âBetter ?â
He looks up at you and you can see in his eyes the exact moment he understands whatâs going on. He turns his head, trying to hide the shy smile appearing on his face but you already saw it. For a reason you canât explain, you feel incredibly happy.
Looks like you just became the best coworker.
A not so bitter defeat.
Max Carlyle belongs to Bright (2017).

Max Carlyle x Reader
Sat on the locker room bench, his head lowered, still wiping away the blood and sweat from his face, Max Carlyle entire body ached. Not just from the fight, but from the crushing weight of his own disappointment. All that training, all these efforts⌠only to lose. Even his coachâs words of encouragement ( and revealing his own orcish heritage ?!) hadnât fully removed the weight pressing down on his chest.
Lost in his thoughts, he barely noticed the soft knock on the door. When he finally looked up, expecting to see his coach again, he was surprised to find someone else entirely. A tiny, young human woman, hesitating at the threshold.
Visibly nervous, by the way she fidgeted with her fingers. After a moment of hesitation, she spoke, unsure, with her thin voice:
âExcuse me⌠I just wanted to say⌠you were great.â
Was she joking ? Max blinked, caught off guard. His eyes briefly scanning the room before going back to her, blinking again.
âI lost.â
She laughed nervously, probably aware of how stupid her statement could sound.
âYes, I mean⌠you got back up after every hit. You fought until the very end. That was⌠impressive.â
She paused, to inhale a little.
âAnd from what Iâve heard, itâs difficult to be accepted as an orc in the UFC. But you did it anyway ! SoâŚâ
Silence settled between them. Max wasnât used to hearing praise, at least not from non orcs. And definitely not from a tiny, nervous human who looked at him with admiration instead of disgust.
Thatâs when he noticed it. That faint, lingering scent of anxiety. She was nervous, but it wasnât the kind of fear he was used to. No, this was different. This was⌠anticipation.
He frowned slightly, curiosity sparking through disappointment.
âYouâre nervous⌠Why?â
She jolted slightly, caught off guard. âWhat? NoâI mean⌠maybe⌠a little.â
Her awkwardness was oddly endearing. For the first time since the fight, Max felt something other than frustration. A tiny flicker of amusement, of intrigue. He studied her for a longer moment, then leaned back against the bench with a tired smirk.
The tension shiftedâsubtle, but real. She hesitated, then, after a small pause, nervously tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
âI⌠I go to other fights sometimes. Maybe Iâll see you again?â
Max caught the scent of her hopefulness this time, warm and hesitant. And without quite knowing why, he let himself smile, just a little.
âYeah. Maybe you will.â
She turned to leave, but before she could disappear completely, the words slipped out of his mouth before he could stop them.
âHey⌠Whatâs your name?â
She glanced back, surprised. Then, with a small, almost shy smile, she told him.
Max watched her go, rolling her name over in his mind, something unfamiliar but pleasant settling in his chest.
That fight was a not so bitter defeat after all.
Imagine being a manager in the Bright universe...
you work in a diner. It's not a big one, but it's running.
you are in charge of a small but efficient team. The boss as the chef, one cook, one kitchen assistant. You work at the front with two waiters.
recently a new waitress arrived and is still in training. She's 19 years old and trying to make extra money to help her parents pay for her tuition fees. She's not quite confident yet, but she's doing great.
then a Karen enters the diner.
everything is good at first, but as the order is prepared, the woman notes that the young waitress... is an orc.
soon, a solid racist argument occurs, which you try to reason, without success.
the obnoxious woman is now standing up in the middle of the room, threatening to call the cops for "illegal hiring".
customers are all looking, some unable to make a noise, others arguing with her.
and you are not having it anymore.
"You wanna call the cops ? Please. Please go for it."
your sweet waitress doesn't know where to put herself and it hurts you to see her like that. She did nothing wrong but to exist, and doesn't deserve that.
the call to the cops is made and after very long minutes and way too much slurs, a car arrives at the coffee shop and someone enters.
"Officer Nick Jakoby, what is the problem ?"
I lack Bright orcs.
I enjoy looking at the ones we can see in the movie but seriously we need more TT_TT

I want a Bright TV series filmed like a Modern Family remake.
So much has changed since we last spoke. I have no taken a position in child care licensing. It is challenging and rewarding work. I hope youâre well and will be able to have some time to decompress.
âWelcome back. It's good to see familiar faces.
Overcoming challenges you put in front of yourself is a healthy way of improving yourself. Such a responsible position must be stressful, but I'm certain you will be able to provide good care for those in need.
May you find your rewards after the challenges."
Oh gosh⌠Youâre the agent from the Magic Task Force. Itâs absolutely an honor, sir.
"Welcome.
I hope you enjoy your visit. I never intended to be so recognizable in my line of work, but I appreciate that my efforts are being noted. Please do not hesitate to come by and have a chat."
