I noticed that I have shown my version of the orange side in multiple pieces but Iâve never actually shown him before so hereâs a little lore dump on him!
(Shameless self plug but my vgen commns are 50% off link in pinned post)
Info-dump below that includes everything!
Firstly, heâs a sense of justice and temperament or righteous anger.
I made him punk due to the sub-culture both being very justice based and taking down corrupt systems but itâs also about using your anger to in order to do those things.
He has goat features as a reference to Satan, the leader of the wrath ring.
Itâs also a nod to Janus having religious creature features as him and Ethan (orange) both technically represent sins or sinful behaviour.
Also extra lore drop, he hates Patton because he split off from him just like Remus and Roman did.
So theyâre both brothers!
Information on his sheet here with some edits-
His values and sense of justice are punk through and through!
He absolutely loves the others but knows thomas wonât accept him so he fucked off into the oblivion as soon as he could.
He did attempt a peace offering at some point but it didnât go well.
Has the best intentions but it never comes off that way.
Speaking of heâs aggressively nice a lot like this https://youtube.com/shorts/F-YINcbQTxk?si=XQ6BJikXuH6rH4Dd
Very vocal and loud in general surprisingly louder if he thinks something is unjust.
Heâs somewhat easy to piss off, mostly just seems pissed for the most part due to his resting bitch face.
Talks with his hands, incredibly expressive.
Love languages are physical touch and making things for people.
He has goat motifs due to Thomasâs religious trauma, goats are commonly associated with satan (wrath).
Interests- Diy, action movies, ferrets, taking down the government.
Dislikes- Capitalism, the government (duh) , Patton, people who canât admit their own wrong doings, corn (he has trypophobia)
Recently, he smokes weed to calm down.
He only started leaning into unhealthy coping mechanisms because heâs been repressed so long.
He wishes so badly to not feel anything at all (aka be completely numb).
This end part is relevant to this next part.
So, what is Ethanâs problem and what would his theoritical character arc look like?
Well, my version of orange is restricted by his own fear of hurting his loved ones with his anger.
And itâs a very extreme fear, probably could border paranoia/phobia.
However, sometimes, he feels apathetic and depressed because his anger is just an overall symptom of his depression.
So sometimes when apathy is felt and he isolates himself specifically so this doesnât happen.
However, he feels his best when heâs numb because he doesnât feel any anger at all and feels that heâs finally safe to be around.
I imagine thatâs why he doesnât present himself or show up in front of the others.
It has to take something mega to physically force his reveal.
It also lends into an idea I had about orange feeling guilty because heâs affecting Logan and heâs suffering more because of him and occasionally is actually hurting people.
(Itâs not entirely his fault though as if he did handle his anger better heâd be fine) (this goes for both of them)
Plus as Eza (a friend of mine) mentions itâs basically Thomasâs fault.
Because Thomas has excluded Ethan and Patton too his entire life over his function since he was relatively young, he obviously is going to develop a bit of a complex about it and severe self esteem issues.
This is also why Remus and Ethan have so many parallels to me.
Theyâve both been outcasted in similar ways and (in my head-canon) have similar self esteem issues and problems with self acceptance and being able to fully accept that they are good but despite that they still try.
Not to mention theyâve also been told that theyâre morally reprehensible their entire life.
Why does orange hate Patton so much?
Okay, so in this version, Patton split off of him because Patton saw anger as unholy and unlawful.
Orange, thinks thatâs bullshit and tried to get Thomas to see that their are healthy ways to use him but Patton shut him down.
Patton is the main reason why heâs been so suppressed for so long and although Janus does play a part in it, those two have had a talk and did sort their shit out.
Orange used to hate Jan but now knows sheâs only doing her job.
Like how she supressed remus and vee.
So he holds a grudge against him, because what was originally healthy anger is now years and years of repressed rage that has no way to be expressed properly.
Relationships with the other sides
I donât have much for this section in particular as this part is pretty under developed.
I am at some point going to figure out and write a proper thing for it.
Patton has obviously already been covered in detail but I have a more detailed rant for Remus if anybody would like to read it.
It does repeat some previous points.
Remus- they both relate to each other immensely because theyâre both two halves of a person but only the darks-sides know that Ethan is a half.
They both have incredibly similar experiences surrounding it too and similar problems.
Remus does piss him off sometimes but they both make it up to each-other.
Theyâre probably the closest out of everybody to be honest, which is surprising to all the other sides except Janus.
Their personalities go pretty well together as well for the most part.
Just donât leave them unsupervised together.
Theyâre fully comfortable around each-other and will vent and comfort each-other.
Theyâve been known to cuddle together and will only be freely soft and emotional when their alone too.
Thereâs a beautiful comfort/vulnerability that they both have/know that they can show around each other.
Itâs a mutual, âYou can put the mask down now, nobody but me is lookingâ.
(Yâknow, since they both cover up negative emotions in a way that makes them both look villainous)
(I.e Remus plays a unbothered tormentor, orange covers it up with anger and threats).
Design notes-
His symbol is a goat eye to lean into the goat features I mentioned earlier but itâs also a representation of silent anger and suffering.
Ethan is justice and temperament yes, but he is also repressed and has been for years.
Tears can represent sadness but I think they can show other emotions as people often cry when overwhelmed by joy or anger.
I wanted it to be a brief look into the overwhelming amount of emotion Ethan is sort of forced to lock inside.
I also used lava because his character seems to be heavily associated with fire and anger is often described as a fire buried in your chest.
His patches are various different patches I found online and two punk bands I listen to (at least I thinks theyâre pretty punk) Moonwalker and Mudrat!
Mudratâs patch is specifically the cover of his Ep social cohesion which I 100% recommend listening to.
I kept his palette relatively limited because the side generally donât have a large variation of colour and the dark sides palette have a ton of black and grey.
His clothing is torn to give a more rough look.
I was meant to ad burn marks but I forgot whoops.
And that is it!
If youâve read this far, thank you so much!
