That Which is Bottomless.
Ian Borrowski is called to aid local hometown police in solving a series of cult-like murders and kidnappings throughout the small village of Calchester. Meanwhile Ethan uncovers an old book adorned with a golden scorpion and pages worn down with age in the eastern caves during a archaeological field trip, going against his better judgment he takes it home. Once Ethan and his friends reveal the contents of the book, the events around Calchester, eerily line up with the Trials of Ashude Derreg. Ethan and Co. take the book to the detective in hopes that it will help the investigation but are scolded and shooed away when the books deemed a work of fiction. As the environmental changes talked about in the book begin in the forest around Calchester and the cultists take a particular interest in Ethan and Co. Will they be able to stop the Trials themselves? Or will they be the next to fall to the Cult of Ashude Derreg?
