WonderWork Provides Hope for Individuals with Severe Burns
A marketing executive with more than 30 years of experience, Brian Mullaney serves as chief executive officer of WonderWork, a nonprofit organization that provides free surgeries for children and adults in need. In his leadership role, Brian Mullaney has guided WonderWork in gaining almost 300,000 new donors and becoming one of the fastest-growing charities in the United States. WonderWork empowers local doctors in the world's poorest countries to provide life-changing surgeries for children and adults who would otherwise never receive them. By supporting and training local surgeons in quick, inexpensive procedures that treat severe burns, club foot, and blindness, WonderWork helps provide more than 100,000 operations annually. Severe burns affect more people than HIV and tuberculosis combined, and though the surgery costs only $300, it is often cost-prohibitive for children in developing countries. WonderWork trains surgeons in “release” surgery that separates skin that a burn has fused together. The simple, inexpensive procedure can have profound effects on mobility and function.
