I love sanditon but I'm so mad at sanditon for giving me a theo situation
Oh god tell me about it. I knew of him, found his role as Four in Divergent pretty good and hella hot but Sanditon has blasted him into the stratosphere and we're all reeling.

say we get s2, how long do you think they'll keep Sidney and Charlotte in angsty territory? I'm guessing like half a season at least tbh
At least that, yeah! I foresee it being at least episode 5 or 6 (assuming itās another 8 episode season) before circumstances and character development finally lead to the end of Sidney/Elizaās engagement. Theyāre gonna want to milk the separation angst for Char and Sidney while also leaving reasonable time for the dissolution of Sidney/Eliza to happen with realistic build up (like something has to happen that either means they donāt need Elizaās money anymore or Eliza herself gets humanized and she decides to let Sidney go while keeping her money invested in the town, and in either case that development canāt be rushed).
I feel they also need the time to let Charlotte grow as well during this period of indefinite separation from Sidney. Like I was saying in another post I think she still had a lot to process when it came to her feelings for Sidney and wasnāt even necessarily ready for marriage yet, even though she believed itās what she wanted. She was nervous as hell about it lol. Like Char is still coming of age and figuring herself out too while grappling with her heartbreak. Itās why I hope she gets courted by some hot new guy who is an actual Contender (in a way Stringer will never be) and that experience helps to solidify what she wants with Sidney? If that makes sense. Basically Iām in agreement with friends of mine like @beavesaintmarie and @eleonoraditoledo that Charlotte is IT for Sidney, sheās the One and he knows it, but he has the life experience that has helped him realize that, and while Sidney is the one for Charlotte too she hasnāt fully grasped that yet because sheās so young and inexperienced to recognize it. And I think that journey and her ongoing maturity deserve a couple of episodes of exploration before she and Sidney are officially free to be with each other. I mean recall neither of them have even said I love you to each other yet, so I feel like it was Daviesā intention to devote more time to this development for them before they ever got married (Sidney has emotional issues to work out too, not so much his love for Char which heās sure of, but mostly to do with his self-loathing which I think makes him tell himself that Char will get over him while heāll never get over her). Maybe it takes even the whole season, even an episode or two after Sidney is freed from Eliza before they get to be 100% on the same page with each other, emotionally.Ā
pal can we talk about sanditon bc I'm dying (of love for sidney)
Pal, yes we can!Ā I have been drooling over gifs of Theo James in Sanditon for weeks, and finally this past weekend decided I couldnāt wait till January to watch it here in the US.Ā (So, I binge watched it on ITVās website with a VPN.)Ā Ā
I mean, the whole show is enjoyable, though darker, weirder, and sillier than I expected.Ā (And it doesnāt feel very Jane Austen-y to me.)Ā But, Sidney Parker is a real looker and steals the show.Ā I love a broody gentleman who gradually lets his guard down to show a softer side.Ā Ā
The thing I really appreciate about his character is how his moods and surliness are justified.Ā I would be fed up, too, if I had to deal with a brother like Tom.Ā Even when he loses his temper with Charlotte, itās perfectly understandable given the circumstances.Ā In contrast, I recently read a historical romance where the man was disagreeable and quick to anger over very trivial things.Ā Ā
So, thatās why I like Sydney.Ā Heās broody within reason and sea bathes like a champ.Ā What about you??Ā What is it about him that has you dying of thirst love?Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
Charlotte estimating that Sidney was the responsible brother in ep1 has now taken on a whole new level of meaning thanks to asshat Thomas
She shouldāve just said that Tom is the irresponsibleĀ sibling, because both Arthur and Sidney are happy to clean up his mess while all he does is just run around shouting,Ā āSidney! What wonderful news!ā
Fuck. Him.
breefraser replied to your quote āEpisode 506 is a perfect example of how this show leapfrogs from...ā
I really think we have to wait to see what happens. They've know they were keeping Murtagh alive since the second season. I'm also honestly much cooler with Jocasta having an affair with Murtagh her whole marriage with Duncan rather than with Ulysses.
The Jocasta x Murtagh stuff, by itself, doesnāt bother me as much as the general tendency of the show writers to āleapfrogā from one episode to another, as mentioned in that episode review.Ā The Jocasta story in this particular episode was just one example of aĀ ādetourā that doesnāt appear to matter all that much to the overarching plot of the season.Ā Though, to be fair, there are still 6 episodes left, so weāll see.Ā Ā Ā
It didnāt seem to me that they were setting up Murtagh and Jocasta having an affair behind Duncanās back. Ā If the writers do go in that direction, I wonāt be surprised, but it doesnāt make sense to me.Ā Book Jocasta is much more conniving than show Jocasta.Ā Ā
To be clear, I donāt think it was a bad choice to keep Murtagh alive on the show, and I actually did really enjoy Jocastaās scenes in this episode.Ā Maria Doyle Kennedy is an amazing actress.Ā I just think the writers are having a really hard time juggling so many characters and plots.Ā Itās led to drastic shifts in tone and theme and characterization from episode to episode and contrived story lines.Ā I realize The Fiery Cross is a difficult book, with its own meandering plot, to try to adapt.Ā But, so far, Iām sad to say, this season has been mostly a fail (in my opinion).Ā Ā

Fifteen Degrees by @breefraser
Pitlochry passes, and he wonders if inviting her to Inverness was a mistake. He knows he cannot become attached to her and decides he will tell her as soon as possible, give her any information she may need, and then move on.
But thereās that attraction between them he canāt deny. He looks at her again, hair half pulled back from her face, falling around her shoulders, and there is a stray piece he wants to tuck behind her ear. No, he stops himself. Sheās leaving. Whether itās to return to America or go to the bloody past, sheās leaving.
A Roger x Bree Outlander fanfiction story.
in multiple novel edits I've found that the villain is my unexpected favourite, so I'm wondering in your WIP who is your surprise fave?
I'll be honest most of my characters aren't well developed enough for them to be unexpected favourites yet š but Hans has kind of come out of the woodwork as a pretty fun character without me trying too hard! He's just this really chill but loud pal of the main male characters (sort of like Miles but working class? But that kind of spirit in some ways).
omg I still miss The Crimson Field! I miss Miles being an absolute dork. I miss Oona Chaplin being beautiful and devastating. I miss being like 'lol Thomas Gillan and I share a personality'. I miss Joan. effing. Livesey. How did six hours of tv burrow so deep into my heart?
ME TOO!!!! I am never going to be over the cancellation of this series. Everyone was amazing and the stories were so compelling. Thomas and Kittyās romance was beautiful! Miles was such a doof and I loved him But JOAN! WHAT HAPPENS TO JOAN AND HER HANDSOME GERMAN HUSBAND ANTON!?!? Iām so mad they didnāt continue their stories!!! WHY!! Crimson Field is so good!
