Take Advantage Of Your Youth! For nearly a decade, my father was a member of a country club, and he worked for a magazine going all over the world to play golf! My grandpa was the founder of a really prestigious golf club in Florida. All that time, I thought to myself, βEh, golf is boring.β When I was a teenager, all I thought about was football, lacrosse, and chasing girls around in school. Writing music, hopping on my Jet Ski, going to parties, and hanging out were more important to me. The last thing I thought about was golfing. When I reflect back now at the age of 28, I think about all the gorgeous girls my age who were at the country club when I was a member. I think about how I could have learned the fundamentals of the game at an early age so I could now shoot in the low 80s against all my drinking buddies. I think about the added value of being disciplined and focused through learning the etiquette at an early age. I caught the "bug" later when I no longer had the resources. I donβt regret not playing golf thenβI just laugh at myself for making it more challenging to play today. I think thatβs why I love playing golf that much more. I can never play competitive lacrosse for a D1 school again, and I can never chase girls around, my woman won't let me, lol π. But golfβoh man! I could play this game until the end of time. My grandfather shot a 78 on his 80th birthday. Now I know Iβm not a pro, but why canβt I be? I can drive the ball as straight as an arrow, 270 on average. My putting is par (no pun intended). It just seems to me that I always shank my 2nd shot and I flub a lot around the green. All I need to do is work at it, right? Well, Iβm here to tell all you young kids who have the resources to take advantage of them while you can. Play at least twice a month. You wonβt regret it when youβre older. Drinking beers and smoking cigars with your friends or work buddies during a golf outing is fun, but being good at golf during that outing is better. This game will test your willpower and composure. I truly believe you can become a better person by playing golf.
