She stood, staring at her naked body in the foggy mirror, condensation dripping down it’s full length making reality feel more like a horror movie that she belonged in. It’d been months since her injuries had healed, but a hot shower made everything vibrant against her pale skin, making her feel like she was one of Tim Burton’s masterpieces in the Nightmare Before Christmas.
“Or The Corpse Bride,” Faye muttered to herself, sighing as she slapped her towel against her leg, watching her thigh shudder at the sudden impact. She cringed. “It’s going to take forever to lose all this weight.”
Her throat was thickening and she could feel depression’s dark, slender fingers reaching out to her when suddenly she was pulled back from the edge by the faint sounds of her cell phone ringing. She looked to the bathroom counter, but it was bare except for hair products and blow dryer. She looked behind her at the toilet, but her clothes sat on top of the closed lid. Frowning she crouched down moving slowly with her good ear turned towards the sound. She kicked Freeman’s pajama bottoms she stole out of the way and heard a thud as the sweats smacked against the side of the bathtub.
Grabbing the hem of the jammies, she reached into one of the pockets and pulled out her cell phone. “Awesome, that’s all I need is to wash my cell phone.” Shaking her head she turned the phone over, dropping the pants back onto the ground in a pile and looked at the screen. She smiled and slid the icon over to answer the phone. “Braylie!! I’ve missed you. How are you doing?”
She listened to her best friend prattle on as she finished drying herself off, placing her on hold so she could quickly dress herself and then continued their conversation as she walked back to Freeman’s bedroom. She plopped down on the bed, laughing at something Braylie had said. “Oh, I know! It’s the worst, right? I remember when I was pregnant with So-”
She was cut off by the sounds of someone walking around downstairs. “Uh, Braylie. I’m going to call you back. I think Freeman’s home early.”
She listened to her friend some more, snickering. “I love you, too! Bye!”
She tossed her phone onto the bed and walked to the top of the stairs, peering down. Natural light filtered through the glass in the front door, spilling onto the hardwood floors and the first three steps going up to the second floor. She promised Freeman she wouldn’t go downstairs when he carried her back upstairs after they saw the girls off with Maria, who took them to her house or out on what she called ‘little field trips’ whenever she was giving them their daily lessons as the girls were still on home studies, and had made sure she had plenty of snacks in her nightstand drawer. He’d even packed her a lunch in one of the girls’ lunch pals.
She sighed quietly to herself, before gripping the railing firmly with two hands and took it one step at a time. She had to start doing things on her own. She couldn’t expect Freeman to take her up and down the stairs forever, though she enjoyed the physical contact with him, it bothered her to rely so much on him for things. She missed her independence. She could do this. She was just past the middle of the stairs when she had to pause to catch herself. Her legs were shaking, but she knew it was from the adrenaline. She was pretty pumped and felt like she was doing something very daring. It excited her greatly.
She opened her mouth to call out to Freeman, wanting him to see her, but decided to play it cool. She continued down the last few steps until she felt warm wood under her feet. She bit her lip to suppress a giggle that tried to escape at her newest triumph. She did it and couldn’t wait to tell Braylie. She knew her sister would be happy for her, but Jaymie was a worry wart and would want her to call her doctor and Mads would be pissed she went against Freeman’s ‘orders.’
Faye rolled her eyes as she turned and headed towards the sounds coming from the kitchen. She was peering over the couch as she continued walking taking notice that Bishop wasn’t in the house, forgetting momentarily that Freeman had said he was taking them in to the groomer’s and so she’d be on her own today. As she was rounding what the girls called the Breakfast Bar, she stopped dead in her tracks. A scream was climbing up her throat as she stood frozen, staring at the back of an unfamiliar male.

They sat at the intersection of Humbolt and Pine waiting for the light to turn green. Braylie drummed her fingers on the steering wheel to the tune of the song playing on the radio as she hummed along with it, shaking her head as her short hair swiveled around her head and face. “Hey did you know Addison Wade is engaged?”
“Really?” Faye asked, looking down at her hands. They were shaking something fierce, so she laced her fingers together tightly, placing them in her lap. “To who?”
“Uuh,” Braylie was momentarily lost in the land of gawkers as they watched a man wrapped in seran wrap walk across the crosswalk. Braylie slowly turned to look at Faye and they both started laughing hysterically. It felt great to laugh. It made the tension melt off your bones. “I can’t believe we just saw that!”
“People.” Faye replied, shaking her head.
“Anyways, she’s engaged to Felix. Do you remember him?”
“Aw, I do. I think that’s adorable.”
“I agree. Also, did you know Ian is a Father?” Braylie raised her eyebrows, a huge grin on her face. She and Ian sort of dated when they were younger, but it was kind of awkward. When they were making out, they fought like brother and sister so they ended up just agreeing to remain friends and they had until Braylie moved to attend College. “He and Addison are on the medical track, I think. I know Addison definitely is. She’s a nurse.”
“Anyways,” Braylie stated, trying to pull Faye back to the now. “He had a little girl. She’s so beautiful, kind of reminds me of Harley a bit. He named her Maryn.”
“That’s a pretty name.”
“I agree.” Braylie nodded, sending Faye a side glance. “How are you feeling?”
“Like I’m going to throw up.”
“Seriously?!” Braylie veered to the right as they drove down the road causing Faye to grab the ‘oh shit handle’ and bracing herself against the dashboard.
“Figuratively, although now I’m not feeling so hot.”
“Sorry.” Braylie sent her an apologetic glance. “Look, no matter what you know we are here for you. You can move in with us. Or, we can get a bigger place. You and I can get a place with Oona and Sophia and the baby. It’ll be great.”
“Braylie..”
“Oh, Faye, don’t start. You know I would never do anything I didn’t want to do.”
“I guess.”
“We’re here.” Braylie said softly as she flipped the turn signal indicating they were turning right into the parking lot of the Hospital. “Remember to breath.”
“Right, breath. I can do that.”
Braylie smirked as she pulled into an empty parking spot. “Hope you don’t mind a walk. When you’re done, I’ll get the car and bring it back so you don’t have to walk too far. OK?”
“I’ll see how I feel afterwards.”
“Sure.” Braylie grabbed her purse and took the car keys out of the ignition before climbing out of the car and shutting her door. She walked around to the back of the car, waiting for Faye to join her. She was just about to go open the passenger door and drag her inside herself when she finally emerged. She hit the lock and alarm button as soon as Faye shut the door and together, arm in arm, they headed towards the building that housed the office of Braylie’s OBGYN Dr. Holly Curtis.
They stopped at the elevators, pressing the button to call the elevator to take them up to the third floor. Braylie reached over and grabbed Faye’s hand, giving it an encouraging squeeze. Faye pressed her lips together in a thin smile that said, ‘I’m scared shitless, but I’m trying to be brave.’ The ding alerting them the elevator arrived, upon the doors opening a little elderly couple stood inside and greeted Braylie and Faye as they stepped in to join them.
When the elevator doors opened to the third floor, Faye tried to escape into the bathrooms. Braylie followed. “Hey, you can’t go pee.”
“What? Why?”
“Because…” Braylie raised her eyebrows, eyes wide. “They’ll want to confirm that you’re pregnant by giving you one of their pregnancy tests.”
“Oh, shit, right.” Faye sighed, walking over to the sink and washed her hands. She looked at Braylie in the reflection of the mirror. “How did I get here?”
“I drove you.” Braylie smirked, winking at Faye which caused her to laugh out loud. Braylie shook her head, “It doesn’t matter how you got here, Faye. It matters how you handle it. I’m here to help you. You’re not alone, ok?”
“Right.” Faye said, with a nod she took a deep breath and let Braylie guide her out of the bathrooms to the office of Dr. Curtis. Braylie walked up to the front and signed Faye in, accepting a clipboard that Faye was to fill out and Braylie filled out the sheet that asked who would be financially responsible for this visit.
“You really don’t have to do that,” Faye said, pointing at the papers she was signing.
“You’re my sister, Faye. And I want to! I’m going to be an Auntie again.” She smiled widely, but she was extremely worried about how depressed Faye seemed. To top it off, she’d told her she couldn’t get time off work to go to Italy with them. She’d offered to take Sophia and for a moment it looked as if Faye would say yes, but then for whatever reason she backed out of it.
“Done.” Faye sighed, placing the pen under the clip and setting the clipboard between Braylie and herself.
“Me, too.” Braylie looked over the documents several more times to make sure everything was filled out and then took both clipboards up to the front and stood there waiting as the receptionist made her copies. She folded the documents and placed them in her purse before turning around and walking back to where Faye sat. “Are you thirsty?”
“I can’t even think about water. I’m about to burst.”
Braylie chuckled, “Imagine when you’re belly gets a lot bigger and you have to go in for an ultrasound. I remember Freeman telling me that you had to pee every five seconds.”
“Braylie Bartolini.” A nurse stood in the door leading to the procedure rooms.
“That’s us.” Braylie whispered, standing. She and Faye walked towards the woman who extended her hand, shaking both of theirs.
“I’m Danielle, please follow me this way.” She smiled brightly. Braylie felt she was the bubbily type, which suited her fine. Bubbily people tended to be infectious and she hoped the positive attitude would rub off on Faye. “We’re in exam room 1 today. Why don’t you set down you things and then we’ll head down to the scale and get your weight.”
Braylie sat down in the extra chair and held Faye’s purse in her lap with her own as she followed the nurse down to the scale to get weighed. She looked around the brightly lit room with its big picture window and black blinds. On the ceiling was a picture of an fetus inside an amniotic sac and a woman’s hands gently cupping it in her hands. There was a curtain that arced around the bed to give the room privacy for when Faye had to change and when someone was getting a pap, etc. Faye and Danielle returned together. As Faye climbed onto the bed, sitting up straight, letting her legs dangled over the side, Danielle closed the door and sat down on the stool.
“So what are we seeing you for today?”
Faye looked at Braylie, her eyebrows raised and Braylie winked.
“Uh, I’m pregnant.”
“Aww, congratulations! Is this your first?”
“No.”
Danielle wrote something down and then stood, bending over she pulled open a drawer and pulled out a blood pressure cuff. She took Faye’s blood pressure, checked her heart and made some more notes. “Is this your first visit?”
“Yes.”
“How did you find out you were pregnant?”
“I took an at home pregnancy test.”
“More like six.” Braylie chimed in, Faye sent her a brief smile.
“Alright, well, we still like to have one of our own for our records. Do you mind peeing in a cup for me?”
“Sure.”
“Great,” Danielle smiled, she bent down again and in the third door, she pulled out a small plastic cup with a lid that had a sticker on it where she wrote Faye’s name, birthday and what room she was in. “The cup is sealed, you can open it once you’re in the bathroom. Use this wipe to clean yourself before you pee, and try to pee for about three seconds before you pee in the cup just to clear everything out the way.”
Faye nodded, taking the cup and following Danielle she went into the bathroom. Braylie leaned back against the wall, her phone buzzing in her purse. She pulled it out. It was Sophia’s school. “Hello?”
“Hi, is this Braylie Bartolini?”
“This is.”
“Hello, this is the principl-”
“I know who you are, is everything ok?”
“We’re not sure. We have Sophia in the office and she’s very distraught.”
“What happened?” Braylie turned to look down the hall towards the bathroom. “Was she hurt?”
“Well, no, but..” the Principle paused briefly. “There is a man here claiming he is Sophia’s Father and that he is here to pick her up from school, but it states in her chart that her Father’s name is Freeman Rodriguez, not Eli Gardner. Sophia was brought into a separate room and was allowed to view the man in the waiting room and she had a meltdown. My concern is that we’ve only seen reactions like these in children who have been abused or are in an abusive home.”
“Are you saying that Sophia told you she was being abused?”
“No, no, I’m saying what I’ve witness is similar to those who have been. It’s enough to launch an investigation into.”
“Ok, um.. I am Sophia’s Godmother and unfortunately I’m at the OBGYN’s right now getting a pap done. Is there any way I could have my fiance or my sister pick her up?”
“Absolutely,” the Principle seemed relieved. “What would you like us to do with Mr. Gardner.”
“Keep him distracted long enough for Sophia to be safely removed from the premises and then call the police. Have them do a breathalyzer. Say he smelled of alcohol, I don’t care, but I don’t want him going with her and if Faye didn’t answer her phone…” Braylie trailed off.
“She didn’t, which is why we contacted you as you are listed as next on her emergency contact list.”
“Thank you for that. I will call my fiance and sister now and see who is available and have them meet Sophia in her classroom.”
“Sounds perfect, thank you for understanding Ms. Bartolini.”
Braylie hung up the phone and sent out a group text to Tyler and Oona. ‘Hey, got a call from Sophia’s school. Eli showed up drunk. Sophia had a meltdown. 911 serious, need someone to pick her up from her inside her classroom IMMEDIATELY!’
Five seconds later she got a text from Oona, ‘With Logan, headed there now. Let you know once I have her.’
She shot off a text back, ‘Thanks, O!’
She waited for Oona’s reply, which she got. ‘NPB’
‘NPB?’
‘No Prop Bob?’
‘You’re a nerd. Who is driving?’
‘Logan.’
‘Ok, text me immediately and do not go anywhere with Sophie. Head straight back to Tyler’s.’
‘Promise! Text you when we get there, when we leave and when we get home.’
‘Don’t talk to strangers.’
‘Wouldn’t dream of it.’
“Who’s that?”
Braylie jumped. “Uh, Oona.”
“Everything ok? You look really pale…”
“Yea, yea fine. Uh, listen..” Before Braylie could finish what she was about to say, Danielle came back in with a huge grin on her face.
“Well, you’re most definitely pregnant!” She said as she closed the door behind her. “Can you tell me the first date of your last normal menstrual cycle.”
“Uuuh.. no, I’m sorry. I’ve never had a normal menstrual cycle.”
“Me either, so I understand. Can you tell me the date of when you had your last period?”
“Honestly? Not really.”
“Take a guess?”
Faye blew out a breath of air, “I guess.. I guess that was three months ago?”
Danielle wrote down something and then pulled out a wheel from her pocket and started moving it around. “Based on this, the estimation on how far along you are is 3 months and five days, but we’ll know more after Dr. Curtis gives you an external exam.”
Danielle stood, opened the cupboard above the single sink and pulled out a folded piece of cloth that Faye would place over her lap and in the top drawer she pulled out a gown. “Please undress completely and put this on. Dr. Curtis will be with you momentarily. Again, congratulations!”
“Was it just me or was she really happy?”
Braylie started laughing, “She’s usually like that.”
Faye shook her head as she undressed and pulled the gown on, sitting down on the end of the bed, placing the lap cloth over her legs. “Don’t look at my butt.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it.”
Faye snorted.
There was a brief knock at the door before it opened and in walked an older woman in her early 40’s. She had warm eyes and nice smile. Braylie could see Faye instantly relax as soon as she entered the room. “Good Morning! I’m Dr. Curtis, but you can call me Holly. You must be Faye.” She shook Faye’s hand enthusiastically, patting the top of her hand before letting go. “So I hear a congratulations is in order.”
Faye gave her a half smile, glancing at Braylie before looking back at Faye. “Or if it’s not we can give you pamphlets on options available to you.”
Faye simply nodded, but didn’t say anything. “Alright, why don’t you lay back for me.” Holly stood up, pulling on two laytex free rubber gloves, dipping two of her fingers in the KY jelly that Danielle had squirted onto a papertowel. “Scoot your bottom down a smidge more until it’s on the edge, please. Right there. That’s great, Faye. Now put your legs in these stirrups.” She helped guide Faye’s legs with her free hand and then she looked down at Faye. “This might be a little cold and you might feel some discomfort and pressure, ok?”
Faye nodded. “Alright, I’m now inserting my fingers.”
Faye looked up at the ceiling, trying to remember to breath, as she stared at the pro life poster above her. To be fair, it didn’t exactly say “pro life” but anyone looking at that should feel ashamed if they thought of aborting such a tiny baby. Faye grunted, involuntarily, as Holly applied pressure to her abdomen. “Your cervix is nice and thick and closed. That’s good.” She began feeling around Faye’s abdomen. “I’d say… about 3 months, give or take a week. We’ll know more once we’ve had an ultrasound.” She took the gloves off, discarded them and then, standing next to Faye, she took her hand and helped her sit up. She walked around the exam bed and pushed the stirrups back where they were supposed to go and then grabbed a box of kleenex and handed it to Faye.
“I’ll give you some privacy to clean up and then I’ll come back in and we’ll talk about it further.” She smiled at Faye and Braylie and grabbing the Faye’s file, exited the room just as quietly as she entered it.
“Faye..” Braylie started, squirming in her seat.
“Stop. I’m.. You know I’d never do that, Braylie.”
“Do what?”
“You know I’d never get an abortion.” Braylie looked down at her hands while Faye cleaned herself and dressed. She didn’t look back up until she heard her best friend crying.
“Hey.. it’s going to be ok.” She said, trying to console her as she stood beside her, rubbing her back.
“How is any of this ok, Braylie!? None of this is ok. It’s fucked up.”
Braylie bit her lip as a knock on the door drew their attention. Holly re-entered the room. If she overheard what they said, she was modest enough to not repeat it or act like she had. “Have you thought about what you wanted to do.”
“I’m going to keep the baby.”
Holly nodded her head. “In that case, I’d like you to make an appointment to come back in next month, but if you have any cause or concerns and you need to talk to someone or even if you need help with your living situation you can contact me at this number anytime or you can go to Catalyst.” She pointed out the numbers on a card, one was written with a black pen, and handed Faye the card. Holly made brief eye contact with Braylie before turning her attention back to Faye.
“Thank you, but really, I’m fine. It’s just hormones.”
She looked at Faye and for a moment Braylie thought she saw something in her facial expression. ‘She knows Faye is being hit.’ She thought to herself as she unconsciously squeezed Faye’s hand.
“Alright, then.” Holly smiled sadly at her, “See you in a month then, Ms. Ross. Here is a prescription for prenatal vitamins. Be sure to take them everyday. It doesn’t matter what time of day you take them, just try and take them when you can and try eating before hand, it sometimes helps to keep them down if you’re experiencing morning sickness.”
“Thank you.”
Holly nodded and left the room. “I’ll make your appointment, if you want.”
Faye shook her head, “It’s ok. I can do it.”
They walked to the front and Faye asked if Braylie wouldn’t mind going and getting the car so she didn’t have to walk all the way back after all. Braylie gave her shoulders a squeeze and left of the office. She jogged across the parking lot to her where she’d parked her car, hit the alarm and lock button and slid in. She called and left a message for Tyler and then texted Oona that they would be leaving soon before she put the car in reverse and drove back towards the front of the building. She waited outside for almost 20 minutes when Faye finally emerged carrying a bag full of what looked like samples.
“Why do they even give this shit to people. Look at this. This expires before I would even technically have the baby.”
“When did she say your estimated due date was?”
“She didn’t?”
“Danielle I think said something to you before I left.”
Faye thought about it for a moment.. “Um, I think she said October?”
“Ooo! That’s so exciting. We could do a Costume Baby Shower Theme!”
“Oh god.”
“I’ll plan it! No excuses!”
“Braylie,” Faye rolled her eyes, but at least she was smiling.
“I have so many ideas!”
“I shudder to think what you can come up with in that brain of yours.”
Braylie squealed, clapping her hands before she pulled away from the front of the building. “We can do a bowl of grapes but call them EYEBALLS!”
“EW!” Faye moaned, before she broke into a fit of giggles.
Braylie stood at the sink filling the kettle with water as she watched Tyler and Sophia outside with Bully, her puppy Tyler surprised her with and Oona's Golden Retriever Pup. She smiled and shook her head as she turned off the faucet and placed the kettle onto the burner of the stove. Sighing she leaned against the counter and looked at her little sister as she folded her arms across her chest. "Did you guys decide on what you wanted for dinner?"
"Well," Oona said quietly, still watching the scene outside. "Considering our new guests I say we order Chinese food. Sophia LOVED that Princess Chicken we ordered when I babysat her and Amora."
Braylie nodded, but didn't say anything. Faye was sitting on the sofa in the living room staring into the fire. She could feel it, her pain. She knew something bad had happened, but she wasn't sure what it was or if she should ask her outright to tell her or just let her come to her in her own time.
"She'll tell you when she's ready."
She looked over at Oona who was now sitting on the kitchen counter, staring at her. Braylie nodded her head, but bit her bottom lip, sighing. "You should tell her about Tyler proposing to you. I bet that would cheer her up. I think she's been waiting for it to happen about as long as you and the rest of us have."
"No, I.." Braylie shook her head not bothering to finish what she was going to say.
'If I tell Faye about my engagement then she'll never tell me what's wrong and I won't be able to help her. She'll shut down. Clam up. Just like she did when she found out she was pregnant with Sophia. She didn't tell me because she knew I was going away to college and she knew I'd stay with her if I knew she was pregnant.' She thought.
Oona shrugged, slipping off the counter to come hug her sister. "Faye's strong, B. Whatever it is, she'll figure it out even if she doesn't tell you."
Braylie wrapped her arms around her sisters shoulders and rested her chin on top of her head. "That is true, but she shouldn't have to go through anything alone, Oona. She's my best friend and if I can help her, I want to be able to. Especially if it involved my god daughter."
The doorbell rang and Oona leaned back to look up at Braylie. "I can tell him another night, you know."
"I do know and really I don't mind. Faye would be mortified if we changed plans just because she and Sophia showed up out of the blue. Besides, Faye likes Logan, too."
Oona smiled and skipped to the front door to let her boyfriend of eight months in. The kettle started to whistle as she listened to muted tones of Oona and Logan chatting with Faye in the living room. She poured the hot water into a tea pot, placed two cups onto saucers and grabbed some milk, sugar and honey from cupboard to place on the tea tray before walking out to start the spanish inquisition on her best friend. She would find out exactly was going on before her best friend for over 10 years internalized everything and shut them all out to face it on her own.
"Tea's ready!" Braylie called brightly as she entered the room smiling.
"I don't know why you just won't call and tell them, B." Her little sister stated again for the fifteen millionth time as she leaned against the counter peeling an orange. "I mean," she paused to pop an orange slice into her mouth, chewing it up and swallowing it before she continued with a new slice pressed to her lips lightly. "If you don't tell them yourself they'll just end up seeing it on the news. Not like you can hide your engagement from the media."
She sighed out loud, "I know."
Braylie crossed her arms, her hip propping her against the counter as she leaned next to Oona, reaching over and grabbing the orange slice she was about to put in her mouth, tossing it into hers. "You're welcome?" Oona stated, rolling her eyes playfully. She was about to pull another slice of Orange off when her phone started buzzing in her back pocket. She immediately reached out and dropped the remainder of her snack into her sister's hands and grabbed her phone. As soon as the screen was lit and she'd opened what Braylie assumed was a text message, a smile wider than the Cheshire Cat's spread across her face.
"Logan?" Braylie asked.
Oona nodded, her fingers already flying over the qwerty board of her cell phone. She bit her lip and squinted her eyes as she glanced over at her sister from out of the corner of her eyes. "What do you want, Oona?" Braylie asked, placing the orange remnants into the organic waste collector before she turned back to her sister with raised eyebrows.
"Caaaan Logan come over for dinner tonight?" She batted her long dark eyelashes at her sister.
Braylie smiled and shook her head, "Of course. I like Logan."
Her little sister squealed, throwing her arms around her neck and kissing her cheek. "Have I ever told you that you're my favorite sister?"
"I'm your only sister!" Braylie rolled her eyes, but hugged her back, kissing the top of her head before she pulled away. "But in all seriousness. Logan is welcomed here any time he'd like with or without you present, though preferably WITH you present. I wouldn't be able to keep up with your texts asking me to decipher his facial expressions or explain the deeper meaning behind every sentence or word he and I would exchange."
Oona snorted, but went back to typing on her phone as she replied to Logan about their dinner plans. Deciding to give her sister some privacy to giggle and blush freely, Braylie turned to walk out of the kitchen when Tyler came up behind her picking her up off her feet and spinning them around the kitchen. "Hello, my beautiful fiance!"
She giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck as she pressed her forehead against his. "Hello, my handsome fiance!" She kissed him lightly on the lips before asking, "How was work?"
"Good," he kissed her back before gently placing her feet back on the floor. "I'm pretty sure they'll call me back." He raised his eyebrows at her before turning to the refrigerator.
"They'd be fools not to!" Braylie stated, wrapping her arms around his waist from behind.
"What do you want for dinner?"
"Mmm, it's not for another few hours." She was quiet for another ten seconds before continuing, "I think I'll look in Mom's cookbooks and see what I can find in there. Logan's joining us for dinner tonight otherwise I'd say we could just order out."
"We could still order out." Tyler turned around in Braylie's arms, running his fingers through her now short hair, as he looked over at Oona who was engrossed in her conversation with whom he assumed was Logan. "They're teenagers."
Braylie smiled as she followed his gaze back to her sister who was biting her bottom lip with a face as red as a tomato. "Hey, Oona Bell. What do you want for dinner?"
"Hmm? Oh," Oona looked up confused for a moment then immediately looked deep in thought. "I could cook dinner! I don't mind, really. Or we could order out, whatever."
"Wel-" Braylie broke off as she head the doorbell ring followed by a set of small rapid knocks on the front door.
"I'll get it," Tyler started out the kitchen, but Braylie caught him by his shirt and pulled him back towards her. She stood up on her tiptoes and kissed him the cheek smiling up at him.
"I'll get the door, you figure out what the little lovebirds want for dinner."
"Deal."
Braylie opened the front door not bothering to look through the peephole. She already knew who it was.
"Hi Auntie Braylie! Mommy and I came to see you!" Sophia said as she jumped up and down.
"I can see that!" Braylie laughed. "Are you going to be staying the night?" Braylie spied Faye's overnight bag that she was trying to keep behind her back, but didn't quiet succeed in doing so.
"Yup! Is Uncle Tyler here?"
"You bet! He's in the kitchen with Oona. Why don't you go say hello so I can help Mommy bring your guys' stuff in, ok?"
"Kay!" Sophie ran past Braylie into the house. They could hear Tyler's laugh followed by Sophia's squeals of delight and Braylie could only imagine him tossing her into the air.
"He's great with kids." Faye commented quietly, a sad smile playing on her lips.
Braylie pressed hers together before opening her arms to her best friend, in which Faye immediately threw herself into them. "I've missed you."
"I've miss you, too, B."
"Why don't you come in and tell me what happened. I'll make us some tea." Braylie smiled.

Braylie and Tyler ( @pixelore) headed to downtown LA to this little Coffee Shoppe that he was completely geeking over before hitting the boardwalk for some fun times!
>>INTERVIEW WITH LUCCA AND BRAYLIE BARTOLINI: FINAL<<
25. *Braylie and Lucca came back downstairs in a cheery mood, no seriously, they were laughing and playfully shoving each other*
"Lucca's funny.. sometimes," Braylie stated, wrinkling her nose. "Plus, I find myself pretty funny.. really, I'm pretty easily amused."
*Lucca raised his eyebrows, caught in mid stretch*
"Ahhhh..." Lucca sighed after he was done. "I feel like I've been sitting here for hours. Anyways, uh, well I guess some slightly inappropriate things..."
*Braylie snickered*
"NOT. LIKE. THAT." Lucca said sarcasticly, loudly, and through gritted teeth.
*Lucca pulled on Braylie's ponytail which only added to the hilarity for Braylie, justifying her 'easily amused' comment*
"Anyways, like.. I like watching that show Ridiculousness! That's some funny stuff right there." Lucca said, slapping his knee.
26. "I love singing and dancing!!" Braylie answered excitedly, bouncing up and down in her seat on the sofa. "It's literally.. my LIFE!!"
*Lucca looked slightly bored, but amused at the same time as Braylie started belting out the National Anthem*
"Really Braylie?" Lucca stated when Braylie was finished. "Of all the songs?"
"I love that song!" Braylie said, sticking her tongue out at her brother.
"Very mature." Lucca raised an eyebrow.
"We're all musically inclined and technically, we can all sing, too.... just some are better at it than the rest of us." Lucca said. "Not to mention 'bubbly,' even slightly 'giddy.'"
*Lucca elbowed Braylie in the side, which set her off in a fit of giggles. Clearly, she's extremely ticklish*
27. "Well.." Lucca stated, looking at his sister. "Do you want to tell them, or should I call Ian over and have him tell them?"
*Braylie sighed and pulled her knees up to her chest*
"I used to tudor Teddy, he used me and when he didn't get what he wanted out of me... he ditched me for someone that would." Braylie cut to the chase, sighing at the end.
*Lucca shook his head as Braylie excused herself to get a glass of water*
"No, no.. see, Ian told me what happened and we went and talk to Teddy." Lucca stated, pressing his elbows to his knees as he leaned forward. "Teddy was failing, which means he was going to get kicked off the Varsity Football Team. He got my sister to tudor him, while she was helping raise his grades, Teddy was trying to raise something else if you get what I mean. He put his 'famous moves' on my sister. He only got as far as kissing her, but when he tried to pressure her to do more than making out she told him no. He got mad and he took off. Next day, rumors were going around that Braylie was a 'stuck up prude' and that she was a 'tease.' They all got a kick out of my sister's misery and humilation while Teddy got to jock around with Josie Michaels.. So, Ian and I took care of things."
*I asked Lucca how Braylie handled it*
"Well.. at first she walked around with her head held high, but after a few days, she couldn't take it anymore. She broke down crying. We honestly didn't think she'd ever stop. Then she got sick, she very well could have been faking it, however our Mom let her. She's been kind of depressed until the day before yesterday."
*We stopped talking about Teddy the Turd when Braylie came back in the room with drinks for all of us*
28. "I'm not really sure, I guess.." Braylie started. "I guess, losing someone I loved."
"Not getting a chance." Lucca stated firmly. "Or someone taking advantage of me."
*when asked to elaborate on the subject*
Braylie sighed before continuing, "Like, if someone I cared about died. Or if they just left me.. I don't know what I'd do, but it'd kill me inside."
"Putting myself out there only to be shut down before given a chance," Lucca said. "That kind of thing. Or someone use how I feel to help them in some way."
*could you tell us something that generally you dislike on a daily basis*
"Omg, Mosquito Eaters!" Braylie squealed and shuddered. "I know they're supposed to be the 'good bugs' but seriously.. have you seen them?! They're an ABOMINATION! They're like, part Daddy-Long-Legs, party Mosquito, part Dragon Fly! Like.. WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!!!!! Not to mention, they try to fly into your ear and eat your brains!"
"Braylie.. they do not do that." Lucca said laughing. "My sister had an anxiety attack that was associated, or well.. brought on by a Mosquito eater."
"Yea, because it tried to fly into my ear and eat my brain!" Braylie stated, but was also laughing.
"I think you're confusing the bugs with Zombies." Lucca patted his sister on the top of her head.
"Yea yea.. make fun." Braylie said, smiling and rolling her eyes.
29. *deciding to switch up the topics, we asked Braylie and Lucca what they'd do if they found out other peoples fears and what they would do if they knew about it*
"I'd try to be understaning of their fears and beat the crap out of whatever that was if it came around.. like Ian does when a mosquito eater comes at me!" Braylie smiled.
"I guess... I'd try to protect them from their fears, but I would also probably playfully tease them, but I would mean it in the most sincerest way." Lucca stated.
30. "I love running," Braylie answered. "I love how it makes me feel.. and I love gymnastics, which is why I joined the Cheerleading Squad."
*turning to Lucca to hear about his excersize schedule techniques*
"I excersize daily. I lift weights, I run trails and sometimes on the treadmill if the weather isn't friendly outside. I don't do it because of Sports, though it definitely helps build some stamina on holding yourself against an opponent." Lucca ended his answer with a yawn and a long stretch.
31. *Braylie and Lucca are in agreement on NO DRINKING*
32. "I just wear whatever I find comfortable." Braylie shrugged. "Well, comfortable and cute!"
*Lucca and Braylie started laughing*
Lucca thought about it for a minute before answering, "Yea, uh.. I just wear what I like. I don't think I have a definite style or anything."
33. *We were shut down on this questions due to the parental units came in and frankly I think I might have wet myself*
34. "You should love who you are no matter what." Braylie said.
"I love my body, and if I love myself and my body I know that whomever I decide to share my life with will also love me and my body." Lucca said, before he starting blushing.
"Things are gettin' real in here, ya'll!" Braylie said playfully. "But seriously, my brother makes a great point. If you can't love yourself, then how do you expect anyone to respect of love you. Confidence in yourself is a powerful thing."
35. "A guilty pleasure? Um.. Pumpking Gellato! MMMM!" Braylie gushed. "Oh, or like, Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.. I literally could eat a whole bucket of the stuff."
"That is really unhealthy, Braylie." Braylie and Lucca's Mother stated as she walked into the room to pick up some toys Oona had been asking for.
"Yea, yea, I know Mom." Braylie answered, waving her Mother away.
"No comment," Lucca said, knowing his Mother was within hearing distance, he wasn't sure he'd want to answer this question outloud.
*Sorry ladies, but we could not get Lucca to dish on his guilty pleasures no matter how much we pushed*
36. "What kind of hobbies do I have?" Lucca laughed. "Uh, I play sports. That's a hobbie, right?"
"Lucca," Braylie looked at her brother. "You do more than play sports!"
"I like to build, or re-build, cars." Lucca added.
"I love scrapbooking, and playing the piano. I find it very soothing." Braylie said, nodding her head.
37. "I love reading anything that spikes my interested. And I love WRITING and reading poetry." Braylie gushed.
*Braylie is clearly very book friendly*
"I write some poetry from time to time." Lucca admitted. "I used to write it more for my Gramama, but I really find it a calming way to express myself that's totally opposite of playing sports. Balance.. life is about balance. Calm to counteract the crazy, or at least that's what my Dad always tells me." Lucca smiled.
38. *Braylie thought about how she wanted to answer this question*
"..I love that not everyone is the same or that not everyone comes for the same backgrounds or places. The world is truly an amazing place." she said calmly.
"In the moment, we all wish that someone could DO or BE something else, but that generally is probably because of something that WE want and wanting someone to change or be something else, isn't really true to not only them, but to ourselves either." Lucca stated.
"That was deep, bro." Braylie said.
"Thanks." Lucca replied.
*Wondering if Lucca really is 15 years old*
"My Mom says we're old souls." Braylie answered for both of them.
*Lucca smiled and nodded his head once in agreement*
39. "I know it's cheesey, but I prefer writing and written letters." Braylie blushed.
Lucca laughed a little before adding agreeing with his sister. "I'd have to agree with Braylie on this one. E-mails and texts are so cold shoulder.. letters say, 'I took time on this because I care.'"
40. "I like Rockstars." Lucca said, "However, I don't drink them often."
"I love Blended Mocha's!" Braylie answered. "Clearly sugary foods is my thing as well."
*Braylie chuckled*
"I like those Loaded Baked Potato Chips." Lucca admitted. "And Black Pepper and Sea Salt chips."
41. "I like boys," Braylie stated. "I know it sounds weird, but hands and voices. Sends shivers up my spine. I can't understand it or even try to make you understand it, but that's just.."
*Braylie pretended to shiver, before she busted up laughing*
"Long, soft hair.. beautiful smile, and I'd love to be able to have an actual conversation with her." Lucca stated. "And her eyes. Her eyes have to capture me. Move me."
*fans self*
42. "Right now, just getting good grades so I can go to whatever College I want! Preferably Italy, I'd love to be closer to my family. At the end of it all, I'd love to be a Movie Composer." Braylie answered. "I mean.. putting myself out there in the 'lime light' is a huge sacrifice to my privacy and to having a 'normal life.'"
"I'm still deciding what I want," Lucca laughed. "I'm only 15 years old."
43. *The teens were both in agreement that religion is a personal preference and that no one should be judged for their beliefs, or how they chose to believe in them, or where they chose to believe in them. However they feel that religion shouldn't be pressed upon anyone who isn't open to it or wanting anything to do with it. Respect goes a long ways.*
44. "Summer.. I love the heat." Lucca said.
"Autumn," Braylie mumbled. "I love all the colors of the leaves. Makes me feel warm."
"I don't really have a season that I detest enough to really rag on. Every season has it's up's and down's." Lucca stated, Braylie nodded her head in agreement.
45. *We actually went ahead and asked the public what their views or opinions were of Braylie and Lucca Bartolini. Some of the things we collected were:
Braylie is very nice, she's always helping people.
Braylie is gorgeous, she has really clear skin and her voice is flawless.
Lucca is hot! I'd have his babies. (Might want to watch out Lucca)
Lucca is always happy, and always willing to stop what he's doing when no one else will and help you out with something.*
46. *We decided to speak with Braylie and Lucca's Mother on this subject*
"We've always raised our children to treat others how they want to be treated and to always be respectful. I'd like to think that when they're not with us at an event, that they're like that always." Izzy answered, her voice soft. "Everyone that's ever met Braylie and Lucca have only ever said wonderful things about them. They hold themselves respectfully and with poise. A firm handshake shows you mean business and that you take yourself seriously."
47. *We wanted to get Enzo in on this band wagon, so we pulled him into the room from outside*
"Ahh.. my children are exactly as my wife stated. They grew up with a large family.. they're used to black tie affairs and high end parties. They're dignified." Enzo stated, before kissing his wife on the cheek and nodding to us when we told him that, that was all we needed him for.
48. "We don't really party," Braylie and Lucca said at the same time after entering the kitchen.
"Yea, we just.." Braylie began.
Lucca finished her sentence/train of thought, "It's just not really our scene."
49. *Braylie and Lucca look at eachother and back at me*
"There's nothing in this world that could be of more value than family." Lucca said.
50. "I'd definitely need a toothbrush and toothpaste." Braylie stated firmly.
"Yes," Lucca said in agreement. "However, I'd need my pillow. I can't sleep without my pillow.. and Mr. Broccoli. I've had him since I was little and it just wouldn't be right if I didn't have him with me."
"Yea.. mine's my old brown teddy bear that my Dad brought with him that was his when was little, when they picked me up from the Orphanage." Braylied added.
