“I take it you don’t like parties then, Princess?”It was just his perfect timing that allowed the sorcerer to have found his way into a country that he could consider a friendly neighbor during such an occasion. Of course, he still couldn’t pick up quite what the celebration was about nor why he was thrown into it as a guest without even a proper introduction but he couldn’t complain. The food was free and his company seemed to share his mildly apathetic disposition. Why complain? She took a few sharp breaths and threw her head of wild hair back and laughed. Sweat streamed down her face, her hair had become even more tangled in the run. She felt free. Really free.Â
She walked towards a stream in the woods and remembered the afternoon her mother and herself had spent there. She closed her eyes and imagined the black bear trying desperately to catch a fish, and the ease in which Merida had speared one with an arrow. That day had been perfect too, just a different sort of perfect. She drank some of the cool clear water, splashed it on her face and lay down, staring at the sky. The sun was lower in the sky, but returning home was useless.
