he   lets   out   a   soft,   dry   snort,   his   shoulders   shaking   as   a   brief   burst   of   static   crackles   like   muffled   applause.   proof?   he   really   wants   proof   of   his   affection   to   show   an   exorcist?   oh   abel,   you’re   either   the   bravest   soul   in   hell   or   the   most   delusional.   probably   a   bit   of   both!   he   can   just   see   her   face   now—   it   would   be   worth   a   thousand   souls   to   see   her   scowl   at   a   glowing   testimonial   from   him.   

then   again,   is   good   boy   not   enough   for   him   anymore?   he   is   becoming   quite   the   demanding   little   lamb.

ok,  sure,  that  was  absolutely  reasonable.  lute  could  understand  that  sentiment.  but  she  still  wasn't  about  to  just  accept  the  fact  that  he  had  gotten  himself  into  such  a  situation.  and  it  was  a  reminder  that  she  hadn't  been  able  to  do  anything  to  keep  anyone  in  this  family  safe.  she  had  lost  her  arm  to  try  and  keep  adam  safe,  but  he  had  still  fallen  in  battle.  she  had  tried  to  avenge  his  murder,  but  had  been  turned  away  at  every  opportunity.

and  now,  because  she  had  gotten  herself  kicked  out  of  heaven,  she  was  unable  to  stop  his  son  from  getting  tied  up  in  something  even  she  could  see  was  a  bad  idea.
