a scoff and a roll of his eyes as he looks down at raven, who was comfortably laying atop him with her head cradled in his lap. after a moment, he lets a laugh loose and he shakes his head at her. “ trust me, there is no chance that you are going to be getting rid of me. i’m gonna be around rae. you’re stuck with me. “ he shifts a bit and his eyes return to the book that he had been reading before her comment. studying for his literature course had gotten them on the topic of friendships, specifically their end.

Those were the words she whispered to him before he left her. So much had happened since their adventure and Bee had been wanting to see her again but the mission was his priority. Now, however, he had the free time. Optimus said he could go wherever he wanted so naturally he came to visit Charlie.

Years ago, when he left, he asked her not to forget him. She promised she wouldn’t. With the memory his spark sped up as he turned into the street he would never forget. Her house at the end of the street grew closer and he slowed down, wondering if she would recognize him.

     There were very few things the disgraced captain enjoyed quite like he enjoyed a book; be it factual and scientific, or poetry filled with pathos, or a good old fashioned story. While he scorned such escapism once long ago, these days he found the temporary reprieve from knowing where or who he was to be a comfort.

     And currently, he really, reeeally could use a comfort.

     It's one thing to run away from only your past- maybe carrying denial, or shame, or the occasional old handkerchief. It's another to run from the past at such speed that you need a new name, new wardrobe, new profession, new language even! Captain Ho- ...well, James was fortunately fluent enough in French that perhaps he could settle down here, in this inconspicuous, poor, provincial town.....

     He had enough money, - he'd nabbed what treasure he could before literally jumping ship - he'd purchased a small rundown house in the woods, and he had every intention to simply settle down and disappear. Maybe he'd find a job... Or just rot away in his terrible little cottage. He supposed he figured it out later... Right now, he'd kill for a good, distracting read.

     The book shoppe didn't seem to have much to offer. One long wall stacked neatly to the ceiling and a single sliding ladder - not that he needed it, his head nearly brushed the beams above - and a shoppe keeper that seemed friendly enough but GOODNESS he could not seem to stop staring.

     James ignored the attention and continued to scan the selection. Nothing in English, nothing nonfiction, a handful of things he'd already read. Maybe coming in was a mistake. Maybe settling here was a mistake. Maybe there was nothing here that could give him even a small moment of peace from these anxious thoughts!

“I did what somebody should’ve done ages ago.” Diego snaps at Vanya. Never the most patient of the siblings, he’s got a knife in his hand and he’s twisting it over and over and over, playing with it, almost. “Listen, I didn’t kill the guy, alright? I just... shut him up for a while.”

Blood was on his hands; some in his cuticles and right under his nails.  It was his, he knows from the many times the Wolf had dug its claws into its own skin out of spite and frustration. Remus licked at his lips and tasted- oh, this wasn’t his. He could taste something coppery in his mouth, something that surely didn’t belong to him. You BIT ME! “——Tonks...?” There she stood, a bite mark; bloody and fresh, seeping down her side. 

“Wh--’calm do--’ I dare ya to come tell that to my face!” the temperamental half demon yelled at the demon slayer. 

“You try and get stuck in sinking sand then we’ll see who’s ‘calm’“, Inuyasha continued to yell. “’Sides, I am calm! Don’t worry ‘bout me!”
