Visited a small and very interesting English cafe - Rabbit Carrot Gun - with my sister dearest on a weekday Evening.

Located in East at Katong, Rabbit Carrot Gun's architecture seems somewhat like a misfit amongst its neighbors like the popular Katong Laksa and a humble fruit vendor. However, there's a quiet charm about this place which makes the place comfortable in its own skin despite sticking out like a sore thumb.

We didn't make any reservations and arrived close to 7.00pm. The indoor seating area was pretty much taken up by reserved tables so you might want to make a reservation especially if you have a large crowd and a preferred sitting area. 

The menu selection was pretty small but reasonable considering the size of the cafe. The sister picked the Braised Beef Cheek and for myself, I had the Roasted Chicken Breast. 

Braised Beef Cheek S$30/-

The sauce was tasty and the vegetables on the side were perfect. Was never a fan of Beef Cheek, hence, no comments on the star of the dish itself.

Roasted Chicken Breast S$25/-

A rather small portion of chicken breast. The butter sauce was tasty however, the flavor of the chicken was bland. Like most places which failed in creating a blend between the marinade/sauce and the dry and tough cut of the chicken breast, Rabbit Carrot Gun's Roasted Chicken Breast too failed in this department.  I enjoyed the confit potatoes, broad beans and green peas very much! Wished they had given me more of those to make up for the small portion of meat.

The food and ambience at Rabbit Carrot Gun is decent. However, with a price tag like that in the Katong district where one has a huge selection of choices, some yummy ones being almost less than half of what Rabbit Carrot Gun charges, I would say it's time to revise your prices! Would probably introduce this place to friends for the novel name and design of the cafe rather than for the food itself. Let me know what you think?
