This is just something inspired by Calum’s Instagram story — I thought him playing piano had Sunday afternoon vibes but then I realised it was Monday and somehow this happened so... enjoy!
Monday’s suck.
Or at least that’s what you’ve been told by everyone your whole life — seeming to be an unwritten rule in society that the first day of the week, after the weekend, is a drag for everyone. And for a long while, it felt that way for you too — Monday would roll around and you’d wake up wanting to spend a little longer getting more sleep.
Yet somehow, that had changed as soon as Calum entered your life.
Every week felt a little easier; each day got more enjoyable with every moment you spent getting to know him. They got even better once you started staying at his house. His bed felt like a safe haven, and you wonder how you ever slept before it was next to him.
“How did you get in here?” You murmur to the small dog curled up on the edge of the bed, fur tickling your legs. The sheets are warm on your skin as you wake up slowly, realising you’re alone in the room — except from Duke. Calum’s side of the bed is deserted, the pillow crinkled from when he had laid there some hours ago. Waking up alone felt a little easier, even just knowing that he was in the next room. “Where’s your pops?”
The first time you heard Calum refer to himself as ‘pops’ to the grumpy dog your heart had melted, as it seemed to with every thing you learned about him. Duke sits up from the bed as you climb out of it, rubbing your eyes and adjusting to the sunlight flooding the room, wondering where Calum has got to. You note how he’s left a hoodie draped over the chair in the corner of the room, and wonders whether it was intentional — even if it wasn’t, you take it and slip the material over your head. There’s something comforting about the warmth his clothes brings, laced with his cologne. It’s then that the faint sound of piano keys fills your ears, and you know where to find him.
Stepping out of the bedroom, the wooden floor is cold beneath your feet as you head down the hall, towards the middle of the house. The sound of the piano gets louder yet you can’t quite make out the song — he keeps stopping and starting. Somehow he can pick up songs quicker than you change clothes; his ears in tune with any song he wants to learn. Duke follows behind you, the pitter patter of his little paws accompanying you.
“Hey,” You call out quietly, standing in the doorway to the room where you find your boyfriend, sitting at the piano. He stops for a moment and turns to face you, his gaze softening when he spots his hoodie — definitely intentional, you think.
He gestures for you to go over and you do, standing behind him for a moment and wrapping your arms around his broad shoulders. You rest your cheek on his head, curls blocked by one of the many bucket hats tucked away in his wardrobe. You run your fingers through the dark curls at the back of his neck, feeling the goosebumps that break out over the skin as you stand there. He continues playing, fingertips gently gracing the keys, and you still don’t recognise the song but it sounds pretty — a soft, slow, perfect way to start a Monday.
“Good morning, love,” He replies, finally deciding to break the silence as he turns to kiss your hand. He stops playing once more and his fingertips land on your thigh, looking up at you from his spot on the bench. “C‘mere, I want to play for you.”
You move around the bench to sit down next to him, your head landing on his shoulder, his head turning to brush his lips against your hairline. His lips linger there for a moment, just savouring the minute, whilst he has you there. You lift your head to kiss his cheek before settling again, letting him play, basking in the serene feeling of the morning. The sun streams through the window and things couldn’t be more perfect, feeling Duke curl up beneath the piano. It feels as though in that moment, everything is where it should be — and there’s no where else you’d rather be.
“S’ pretty, what are you playing?” You ask when he’s done, your fingers lacing with his when he pulls away from the keys. His grasp is warm and gentle, grounding you and reminding you that you’re both there together.
He shrugs subtly, squeezing your hand in his, his thumb brushing your forehand. “It was just stuck in my head, I woke up thinking about it. Hence why I had to leave you in bed, I hope you don’t mind.”
You chuckle and shake your head, assuring him that waking up alone is perfectly fine. “Of course I don’t mind, Cal. Especially when I wake up to this, you somehow Monday’s much more bearable.”
Having him around makes everything feel less like a mountain to climb, and more like an adventure to face head on — anything seems possible when he’s there to support you. As you sit and bask in the feeling of him, listening to him play away at the keys in front of him and the sun on your back... suddenly, you wish everyday could feel like Monday.

Anonymous: Can we get y/n going to cal and telling him she doesn’t want kids and she’s worried he’ll leave her?
Bit of an emotional blurb here! Where Calum and reader meet Michael’s new baby, and reader decides its time to tell Calum that they have no plans to have children anytime in the future. As always, feedback is appreciated! I hope you enjoy a bit more of uncle!Calum, as well as him being a supportive partner! Thank you as always to @calumrose for brainstorming this with me♥️
“I can’t believe she’s here.”
You’ve never seen Calum look at someone so intently. His focus is fixed on the bundle of blankets in his arms, and had been since Michael had placed her there just moments earlier — with a overly cautious dad-like ‘make sure you support her head, man.’
The whole family have been long awaiting the arrival of the newest member of the Clifford family. Ever since he and his partner had announced that they were expecting, it was all everyone had discussed whenever you got together — names, godparents, who would be the best babysitter... the list was endless. Calum had cried when Michael asked him to be her godparent, a role he promised to take very seriously.
“I know, it’s crazy, right?” Michael replies, his gaze soft as he looks at his best friend and his daughter. You sit to Calum’s right, your pointer finger reaching out to lightly stroke her cheek.
Your heart aches a little as you watch them.
You and Calum hadn’t really had that conversation yet. Everytime somebody mentioned children, whether it was on TV or a friend, you’d brushed it off — joking about how children were too messy, too loud, anything you could think of to shut the conversation down. Calum never said much, either — he didn’t agree with you, but he didn’t argue either. It was a private conversation that needed to be had, between the two of you.
“Wait until you can babysit, get some practice in for your own.” Michael’s partner comments, making your heart drop into your stomach when Calum smiles at her words.
“We’ll see.” Calum replies quietly, too busy running his thumb over the apple of Harper’s cheek, her skin flushed from sleep as he cradled her.
We’ll see.
What does that mean? Calum’s viewpoint on having children had never been clear, yet this made you more unsure. It made your stomach turn to think that he could possibly not be on the same page as you.
“Do you want to hold her, babe?” Calum asks, gently nudging you to catch your attention. You nod, holding your arms out for Calum to slowly and under Michael’s watchful eye, very carefully, place her in your arms. Tears well in your eyes as you look at her, how she curls in towards you as you adjust her in your arms. Calum’s hand rests on your thigh, a small show of affection as he looks at the tiny baby. He slips his finger in between her tiny ones. “Look at her little hands.”
“She’s so sweet,” You smile, suddenly feeling as though all of the attention was on you and Calum — watching as he put his arm around your shoulders. You held her for a few moments longer, until she curled her legs up and let out the first hiccup of a cry — Michael instantly jumping into action.
“Shall I take her?” Michael asks, waiting until you nod before scooping her up out of your arms and rocking her in his. Calum sends you a warm smile, and you smile back — but doesn’t reach your eyes. Calum notices.
***
Your quietness lasts into the car journey home.
You think Calum hasn’t noticed — his non-stop excited chatter about everything he plans to do with Harper, how happy he is for Michael, occupies the space. He has, though. He’s talking more to fill the silence as if he thinks that’ll stop you from thinking about whatever is weighing on your mind. He knows he can’t avoid it forever though.
He notices the faraway look on your face, in your eyes — it’s one he’s seen before, and he knows it means you’re deep in thought. He isn’t sure what about, although he’s not oblivious to the fact that you’ve been acting this way since meeting Harper.
He doesn’t bring it up until after dinner, when you’re sat in your usual spot on the sofa, hands running through Duke’s fur. It seems like a nervous thing — like a distraction from whatever was making you feel so anxious.
“Darling?” He tries, picking Duke up and setting him down in his lap, so he could sit next to you. “What’s going on?”
You can’t bear to say it.
The thought of him reacting in the same way as most family members and friends did, made your stomach turn. There was no escaping it though. It was a conversation that had ended a relationship before. You hope deep in your heart that it wouldn’t end this one too.
“Calum...” You start, taking a deep breath before continuing. He furrows his eyebrows in concern, like he had no idea what you were going to say — like he was bracing himself for what was to come. “I don’t really know how to say this. I hate having this conversation, but after today, I just feel like I need to tell you.”
He nods, his heart rate increasing as the feeling that you’re about to drop a bombshell on him becomes more apparent. He doesn’t rush you, though. Just waits for you to carry on.
“I don’t want to have children.” You admit, covering your face with your hand as a few tears slip at the statement. “Not ever. And after seeing you with Harper today, I just... I don’t know if you feel the same way.”
Calum can’t help but feel a sense of relief at your words. With the way you were acting, he felt as though what you were going to say was much worse.
“Hey,” He soothes, wrapping his arm around your shoulders and pulling you close to him. He moves Duke out of his lap to create space for you — so he can hold you as close as possible. “Listen to me, gorgeous. You don’t have to worry about that, okay? Whatever you want is okay. I’m right here with you.”
You can’t help but sob against his neck, like everything you had been feeling had built up to the point where it was all coming out. His warm palms are soothing against your back, moving up and down in a comforting gesture. He just waits until you catch your breath a little — until your tears slow down to where they’re only occasionally slipping down your cheeks.
“Talk to me.” He almost whispers, knowing you weren’t finished, that there was more than you already said. He didn’t know that it ran so deep. He wasn’t sure why it was such a huge deal, but he wanted to know. “I’m listening, babe. Whatever you’re thinking.”
“Everyone makes me feel like I’m crazy for not wanting my own children.” You explain, wiping underneath your eyes to get rid of the tears as they fell. You thought back to everytime it came up in conversation. How your parents told you you’d change your mind when you found ‘the one,’ yet Calum was right in front of you, and you knew it still wasn’t what you wanted. “It makes me feel like a bad person. Like my life isn’t going to be fulfilled if I don’t give my parents grandchildren.”
Calum shakes his head.
“That’s not true, my love.” He replies, not wanting to invalidate your fears, but also hurting over the fact that you had kept it bottled up for so long. “You do not need to have children just for your parents sake. Or for anyone, for that matter. You’re not a bad person for not wanting that, okay? Far from it. You’re my favourite person in the world.”
A small smile graces your lips, followed by the genre pressure of Calum placing his against yours in a soft kiss. You felt much better for getting your feelings out, for explaining everything — as well as hearing Calum’s reassurances. Although, you can’t get the image of Calum holding Harper out of your head.
“What about you, though?” You ask tearfully, trying not to let your emotions get the better of you once more. Your voice wavers as you speak, and it makes Calum’s heart ache that thinking about him in all of this caused that.
“What about me?”
“I saw how you looked at Harper,” You sigh sadly, thinking about the content expression on his face as he held the sweet baby. “Don’t you want that for yourself? To have your own baby?”
Calum thinks to himself for a moment. He thinks about how deeply in love he is with you, how content he is with his relationship — and how not deeply he had thought about having children. It was always one of those things where if it happens, great, but if it doesn’t — that’s fine too. It was never an absolute when he thought about his life. He knows that if he has to choose between you and having children — he chooses you, everytime.
“I want you to be happy,” He states, like it was the simplest thing in the world. He means it. His hand gently grips your face, tilting your chin so you’re looking right at him. He thumb softly wipes away any remaining tears on your cheeks. “And if not having children is what is going to make you happy, then that’s what we’ll do.”
“Are you sure?”
He nods, moving closer until his nose nudges yours.
“Yeah, besides, it means I don’t have to share you with anyone else.” Calum confirms, smiling when a relieved giggle escapes your lips at his words. “Well, apart from Duke. You give him enough attention as it is.”
“Shut up,” You laugh, playfully hitting his chest as you reach over for Duke and set him down in between the two of you. “Duke is less needy than you.”
“Yeah, yeah.” He rolls his eyes, pulling you closer until your head is resting on his shoulder. “Seriously though, babe. Think about it. We’re about to spend the evening arguing over what to watch before sleeping for 12 hours, with no interruptions. Michael will be lucky to get three hours sleep tonight, until he wakes up to a screaming baby.”
“Exactly my point.” You reply. “We just get to do the fun stuff, like cuddle her until she cries and then give her back.”
He nods, sighing contently as he begins to scroll through Netflix. You finally feel as though you can calm down — like there was no longer the burden of wondering how Calum would feel about your plans on not having children. As you sit there, trying not to fall asleep after winning the debate on what to watch — you realise this is what you want your life to be.
“Being the fun uncle sounds like a good plan to me, babe.”

@calumscalm: hi lauren! 42 from the kisses prompt list with cal trying to be distracting? 🥺
42. Distracting kisses from someone that are meant to stop the other person from finishing their work, and give them kisses instead.
“Cal...”
You sigh as Calum’s plump lips trail across your cheek, in the spot behind your ear, and then down your neck. His arms were loosely wrapped around your waist, hands allowing space for your laptop to sit on your knee. Duke is curled up against your side, his head on your thigh. None of these things make for a productive working environment — yet it was the only way to stop Calum’s whining.
“If I knew you were going to be this distracting, I wouldn’t have agreed to sit in your lap whilst I worked.” You groan, shifting a little to try and get more room. Calum had been needy all day — convinced he was coming down with something, the only cure being that of your embrace. With a big deadline coming up, you had no choice but to work through the weekend, despite Calum’s complains. The only compromise had been to cuddle him whilst you continue to work.
The TV is a soft noise in the background, just a re-run of a show that you’ve seen over and over so it wouldn’t distract you too much. Well, not as much as the man you’re cuddled up against. The vanilla scented candles lined up on the fireplace create a pleasant atmosphere, a relaxing one — not particularly one for working in. If it wasn’t for the work you had to do, it would be the perfect way to spend a rainy day.
“Baaaabe,” He whines, resting his head on your shoulder. You can hear the scratch in his throat, his stuffy nose evident as he speaks. The heat radiating from him tells you that he probably has a temperature too. “If you don’t give me attention soon I might die.”
“I didn’t know you not feeling well made you so dramatic.” You reply, knowing the sooner you get your work done, the sooner you can spend time with him. Calum didn’t seem to understand that though, as he continued kissing your jawline from his spot behind you. “If you let me get on with it, I can cuddle you sooner.”
“I might not make it to then.” He sighs dramatically, giving up for a moment and letting you continue working. He sits quietly for a moment, his hands rubbing up and down the sides of your thighs. He runs his hand through Duke’s soft fur, getting his attention and scratching under his chin when he lifts his head. “Duke, tell your momma to pay attention to me.”
“Hey, don’t use Duke against me.” You scold him, turning around to playfully slap his chest lightly. His lips are becoming distracting — trying to cover any skin they could reach, dusting over your cheek, along your jawline, down your neck. You sigh, rolling your eyes as you think about how badly you want to push your laptop away and curl up in his lap. “Calum, I really need to get this done.”
“My lips are lonely.” He pouts, and you can’t help but laugh at his words. “Just... just one kiss? Please, babe.”
He tries to tilt your face towards him, pouting his lips in an offer for a kiss as he waits for you to respond. You oblige, rolling your eyes with a smile before pecking his lips softly. After one kiss, he couldn’t stop himself from trying to get more — pushing your laptop off of your lap and pulling you tighter against him.
“Calum, I told you-“
“Nu-uh,” He replies, wrapping his arms fully around your waist and holding you close. He covers your face in kisses in an attack, making a dramatic ‘mwah’ sound as his lips scatter kisses all over your cheek. You finally give up the fight and let him have his way — loving on you until you close your laptop and snuggle up in his lap. “Much better. You saved me, babe.”
“Mhm.” You hum, running your fingers through his hair as he rests his head on your shoulder, buying his face in your neck. “Guess some things are just more important than work, huh?”

This was a request from this prompt list! I’m still taking requests so please send me a number & a band member and I’ll try to write a blurb about it ♥️
As always, feedback is so appreciated! My ask box is here.
8 Buying them something unrequested because it made you think of them with Luke please.
8. Buying them something unrequested because it made you think of them.
After having Luke home with you for the best part of a year, you knew tour was looming. You loved having him home, where he and the rest of the band had been working on their new album, but with that came the need to promote and tour it around the world.
In your heart, you knew that you and Luke would make it work, like you always did. You never had to worry when he went away for months on end - you had his heart, and he had yours. The old saying ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ became more and more true every time he went away, because you realised how much you truly loved him, when he wasn’t there.
One day whilst he was at rehearsals for the upcoming tour, you were out doing your weekly food shop, one of the last ones you’d be doing for two people for a while. Strolling around the aisles, a small stuffed penguin caught your eye, and even though you knew it was silly, it made you think of Luke. His obsession for penguins had died out long ago, you knew that, but it reminded you of the early days when you first fell in love - you knew you had to buy it, and give it to him as a pre-tour gift.
Later that afternoon, when he had returned from rehearsals a few hours earlier than expected, he entered your shared bedroom to find the squishy penguin sat on his side of the bed. Giving it a questioning look, he dumped his bag down at the side of the bed to go looking for you.
“Babe?” He called out, finding you cleaning the lounge. “Why is there a penguin on our bed?”
“Shit, I was meant to hide it before you got home.” You replied, sighing in annoyance at yourself, knowing that you wanted to wait until the day he was going on tour to give it to him. “It’s a going-on-tour present for you.”
“That’s sweet, baby, but why a penguin?” He chuckled, moving to wrap his arms around your waist, waiting for an explanation.
“I just saw it in the supermarket earlier and it reminded me of you.” You explained sheepishly, suddenly growing shy when you thought he didn’t like it. “I know your penguin obsessed died with your Instagram username a long time ago but it reminded me of when we first fell in love.”
Luke’s heart melted in his chest, feeling like he could cry as he watched you look away from him - he knew you better than you knew yourself, and he felt slightly bad for the way he had reacted to the gift. “That’s so cute, baby. I love it, really.”
“I know it’s silly.” You continued, daring to look up into his eyes. “But I just thought you could take it on tour, and you’d have more of a reminder of me.”
“I don’t need a reminder of you, angel.” He murmured, his hands coming up to cup your face, letting his thumbs softly stroke up and down your cheek bones. “I have your heart, don’t I? And how could I forget this beautiful face?”
You took a deep breath, revelling in the feeling of having his face so close to yours, almost trying to commit the feeling to memory so you could think back to it when he wasn’t there. You wanted to cry at his sweet words - there was nobody better for you to give your heart to.
You nodded, leaning up to press your lips to his softly. “But I’ll still take him with me. At least then I’ll have someone to cuddle, even if it isn’t the same as having you there. Thank you for the gift, babe.”
The soft penguin slept in your bed with the two of you for the next week and a half before he had to leave, convinced that it would make him smell like you, and Luke wanted to keep him in his bunk. He even sprayed him with your favourite perfume, as more of a reminder of you. When he finally left with several kisses to your lips, after gently wiping the tears from your cheeks, he promised to take good care of your penguin, and show him the world. You’d laughed at his words, realising how silly it seemed that the two of you were treating a toy like your baby. But it melted your heart that he wanted to have it with him, knowing that you’d bought it after it made you think of him.
He kept sending you updates - a photo of the penguin sat on stage at soundcheck, sat next to him in his bunk, and on his seat on the plane before they were due to fly to the next country. His band mates had teased him several times, of course they had - but Luke didn’t care. It seemed ridiculous, but they didn’t understand how much easier it made touring for him when he felt like he had a piece of you there with him.
And six months later, when Luke returned home, and after a long night of reuniting, you soon found out you were having an actual baby of your own… and the slightly worn penguin would settle in the empty crib, awaiting baby hemmings. So when you had spotted the toy in the supermarket that morning, only meant as a silly present for your husband, little did you know, he would mean as much to your family as he now did.

the 2 with luke request was from the ways to say i love you list!
2. Tucking the sheets around them when they stir during the night.
“I think that’s everything.” You sighed contentedly, placing your hands on your hips and watching as Luke took the final photo frame out of the box. The living room was full of empty boxes, after spending the day unpacking all of your belongings.
“Does it feel like home yet?” Luke asked hopefully, moving to stand behind you and wrap his arms around your waist and pull you into his broad chest, pressing a kiss to your temple.
You had just passed your two year anniversary, and the two of you were getting a little tired of moving between houses and not spending every night in the same bed. You had always spent more time at Luke’s, his bed feeling more like yours than your own did, and it felt right to finally call his house, your home too. Most of your things were already at his, having left them there after staying over so many times - and your heart melted when he suggested that “maybe all of your things could just always stay here. And you.”
“It always has done.” You replied, turning around in his arms to rest your hands on his neck, pulling his face closer to yours and pressing your lips to his. He deepened the kiss, getting lost in your eyes when you finally pulled away, suddenly feeling more at home then he ever had in his own house, now that you were here.
“Shall we go to bed?” He asked quietly against your lips, planting a final kiss to your nose as you nodded. “Our bed.”
He had fallen asleep quickly, like he usually did with you wrapped in his arms and pressed against his chest. It had been a long day of unpacking, and you were exhausted, but you couldn’t seem to take your eyes away from your sleeping boyfriend. He always looked so at peace when he slept, so relaxed, and it made you melt. You managed to unravel yourself from him, as he turned over and pressed his face into the pillow.
The covers had slipped from his shoulders, his bare skin exposed to the cool air in the room and he moved himself closer to your body. You leaned over and grabbed the ends of the duvet, gently pulling it over the top of his body. He cuddled closer to you, pressing his lips against your shoulder before smiling against your skin in his sleep, falling fast asleep again. “Good night, Lu.”

50. "Nothing is wrong with you." and 52. I wouldn't change a thing about you." Luke please
50. “Nothing is wrong with you.”
52. “I wouldn’t change a thing about you.”
It had been a little over a year since you and Luke had started dating. It was difficult for you to spend a lot of time together - with you working and Luke being in the studio and on tour, your schedules didn’t always line up. So the two of you decided to go on a holiday together - well deserved break, in the sun, to spend solid alone time together for the first time in a while.
Luke had chosen a beautiful hotel - it was quiet and peaceful, right on the beach front, a stunning location to spend three weeks together. It was your first holiday as a couple - you’d travelled together whilst he was on tour, but that was only for work purposes. You couldn’t wait to relax on the beach with him for three weeks.
“Morning, baby.” He groaned in your ear, rolling over in the large bed to pull you closer into his warm, bare chest. Waking up in his arms felt heavenly - the only sound being the waves crashing onto the shore gently, and Luke’s occasional yawns as the two of you woke up. “So, do you like it here?”
“I love it, Lu.” You replied, kissing up his neck, to his perfectly sculpted jaw. You took in his morning appearance, his eyes still sleepy and his blonde curls tousled from sleep, a mess on his head. You loved seeing him like this - his natural self, so relaxed. “And good morning, by the way.”
“So what shall we do today? I was thinking we could get some breakfast, then go check out the beach.” He suggested, and you nodded against his skin. The thought of going to the beach and having to wear the bikini packed into your suitcase made your heart beat a little faster, your insecurities coming to the surface. You knew Luke thought you were beautiful but, the thought of wearing something that revealed your body in so many ways, made you nervous.
An hour or so later when you’d eaten a lovely breakfast looking over the city, Luke all but dragged you back to the hotel room, excited to get you on the beach. You hadn’t been swimming or to the beach with him in a long time, and even though he sees your bare body often, something about it still made you anxious. You pulled the baby pink two piece out of the suitcase, observing the material in your hands and taking a deep breath. Luke was pottering around the hotel room, already wearing his swim shorts. You loved everything about his body - his smooth skin littered with blonde hair, freckles scattered around his chest and arms. His blue swim shorts brought out the blue of his eyes, and you could’ve admired him for much longer if he didn’t try and rush you to get ready.
Moments later you had managed to get the bikini on, and you gazed at yourself in front of the mirror with a questioning glance. “Luke? Can you adjust these straps please?”
“Baby.” He grinned at you, his heart filling with love at the sight of his beautiful partner in front of him. He loved seeing you like this - how beautiful your skin looked contrasted to the light material. He took in the sight, trying to commit it to memory. “You look gorgeous.”
“Luke, don’t.” Your cheeks were heating up at his words, putting your head down to avoid his loving eyes. He came and stood behind you in the mirror, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his head on your shoulder.
“Don’t what, my love?” He asked, furrowing his eyebrows at you through the mirror as he kissed the bare skin of your shoulder.
“Just - will you do my straps please?” You mumbled, still avoiding his gaze. The energy in the room had changed, he could tell you were unhappy about something. It was then that it hit him that you’d started to act like this since you put your bikini on, and it made his heart hurt to think you didn’t see yourself like he did.
“Hey, look at me.” He turned your body in his, resting his hands on your waist. You were still reluctant to look up at him, eyes observing the hair on his chest as a distraction. “Babe, please. I don’t know what you’re seeing, but nothing is wrong with you, okay?”
“I just feel like it’s a bit revealing.” You sighed in his arms, resting your head on his chest as he kissed the top of your head. “I don’t know if I like it.”
“So what? Your body is so beautiful, sweetheart. You should show it off. Especially to me.” He said playfully, as he squeezed your hips. “You’re my beautiful girl. I wouldn’t change a thing about you.”
“Love you, Lu.” You smiled against his lips as he pressed his to yours, finally daring to look up at your boyfriend. His words were a kind reassurance, settling your anxieties and making your heart rate return back to normal.
“Let’s go to the beach, shall we?”

56 with Michael? I know you'll do a great job with it. Love you babe.
56. “Tell me what’s wrong.”
You felt off all day. The anxious feeling creeping up your spine as soon as you woke up, letting you know that today was not going to be a fun day. Sometimes there were no reasons for it - it just happened, it was one of those days.
Michael hadn’t expected the scene he came home to after rehearsals. He was expecting the usual - you cooking dinner in the kitchen, singing along to whatever music was on the radio. Or sometimes he found you sat at your desk in your office, working on whatever essay you had to do, or doing other bits of general work. You always seemed to have an endless list of things to do every day - he admired your work ethic, and how determined you were to succeed.
You were his favourite person to come home to, the thought got him through the day. But today, was not like usual. He entered the house, the kitchen empty and quiet, no evidence of any cooking present. He couldn’t hear any music or TV, which was also not like you. There was always some form of noise in the house - it almost made him wonder whether you had gone out.
But as he made his way up the stairs, his heart clenched in his chest when he heard the faint sound of you sobbing. He had no idea what was wrong, and an anxious feeling flooded his own body as various bad situations flowed through his mind.
“Baby?” He called out, entering your shared bedroom, his eyes landing on you curled up in bed. More and more tears were steaming down your cheeks, your chest heaving with every breath which were getting heavier with every sob that passed your lips. “What’s the matter, sweetheart?”
You couldn’t form words, trying to focus on catching your breath more than anything. You didn’t resist as Michael took off his shoes and tucked himself into bed next to you, your body practically falling into his. His arms wrapped around you, one arm immediately started to rub your back, knowing that it would calm you down.
“Shh baby, shh.” He whispered softly, his heart breaking as you cried into his chest. His lips pressed a soft kiss to the crown of your head, pulling you towards his chest as his arms enveloped you completely. “I’ve got you, my love. Try to calm down, okay?”
He started to take deep breaths for you to copy, desperately trying to loosen your tight chest and breathe evenly again. Eventually it worked, your sobs reducing to soft tears spilling down your cheeks.
“Tell me what’s wrong, baby.” He pleaded with you softly, trying not to upset you further, but feeling increasingly panicked not knowing what was wrong. All he wanted was for you to be happy always, and seeing you like this, just broke his heart. “I can’t help if you don’t tell me what’s wrong.”
“Today has just been a lot.” You stated, still trying to breathe normally but feeling like your chest was constricted from sobbing. You curled more into his body, inhaling his familiar scent, knowing that it would ground you. “But it’s okay. I’m okay.”
“You definitely are not okay, baby. Coming home to you crying in bed in the middle of the afternoon is not okay.” He replied, gently grabbing your chin to make you look at him. “I’m here to help, okay? Don’t shut me out.”
“Thank you.” You whispered quietly, the two words holding more appreciation than Michael could ever know. You knew he was there for you, he always was - but hearing him say the words settled your heart.
“I love you, baby. Always.”

35 Running out in the middle of the night to get a food item they’re craving with Ashton
35. Running out in the middle of the night to get a food item they’re craving.
“Ash?” You murmured into the dark room, reaching over to flick the lamp on at your bedside table. Your heart clenched as he groaned before rubbing his tired eyes, sitting up in bed to look at you.
“You okay, love?” He murmured in his deep, sleep ladened voice. Looking at him, you had the urge to tell him to go back to sleep, but then you felt the firm kicks of the baby snuggled up inside your stomach and remembered why you woke him up in the first place.
“The baby is hungry.” You replied, rubbing a hand over your bump to soothe the skin there. You were nearly seven months along, and your bump was prominent under one of Ashton’s large comfy T-shirt’s that you had stolen to sleep in.
He laughed softly, checking his phone to see the time was 3:15am. He was so tired, and could easily have gone back to sleep right there, but he knew this pregnancy was harder on you than him, therefore he was more than willing to do whatever you needed.
“Oh really? And what does the baby want? Does it happen to be already in the house?” He asked hopefully, knowing it was wishful thinking that whatever food you craved could be found in the kitchen. He had made so many trips out to the supermarket in the middle of the night that even the cashiers recognised him, and always knew why he was there.
You shook your head, as Ashton playfully rolled his eyes. “I really want McDonald’s fries. So badly, I can’t stop thinking about them.”
“Are you sure we don’t have any here that are similar, babe?” He replied, and you shook your head again. He reached over to rest his large hand over your bump, feeling the kicks and rolls against his palm.
“No, Ash. I need them.” You sighed dramatically, knowing that you were being irrational but not being able to stop thinking about the warm, salty fries.
Ashton had already rolled out of bed, knowing that he wasn’t going to win this argument and he would be heading out to McDonald’s, despite it being the middle of the night. With a kiss to your lips, he threw a hoodie over his head and left the house to get what you had asked for.
“Good, love?” He asked, already back in bed, comfy against the pillows as he watched you tuck into the large fries that you had so badly wanted.
“So good, Ash. Thank you so much.” You practically moaned as you reached over to kiss him again, before telling him to go back to sleep as you felt so bad for waking him in the first place. He settled down into the bed, content that he had satisfied your cravings, and knew that he would always do whatever he could to make you happy.
