maffei was a boudalan commander who served as heda just after sheidheda. throughout his reign he was rightfully suspicious of his flamekeeper being that it was the same flamekeeper to kill malachi. maffei was brutal in war but stable enough to not fall into sheidheda’s revenge and kill titus, as much as he could never trust a flamekeeper who would kill the commander he had sworn to serve he knew malachi, hell he was raised by him. he saw first hand the utter lack of guilt over any of the atrocities he had committed or the innocent lives he took.

maffei had one of the longest reigns as commander ever, becoming commander at thirteen and reigning until twenty nine. he was a brutal man and his weapon of choice was a unique curved blade sword. he took after malachi in his liking of chess as malachi used to play against his natblidas. he saw it as a another way to teach them rather than a game. now maffei will play even in the quiet times during war to keep his mind sharp and strategical rather than straight rage.

originally born to boudalan, derrick was his villages main healer, he enjoyed his job but he couldn’t handle all the child soldiers that came through the infirmary. especially since most were to far for any grounder medicine to save. it was what he loved most about the rig, kids were allowed to be kids. no one on the rig was being injured in war and he loved his job as healer again. it was rare that one of his patients died.

he and luna would often talk about their pasts with each other, derrick was the only one luna spoke to about herself before the rig and derrick would tell luna all about his life in boudalan as he did miss his old clan. not that he ever wanted to go back, it was more of a nostalgia feeling, he’d talk for hours about what he missed about boudalan culture, even telling stories to the other people on the rig.
