It had been a few weeks since your life had changed completely. And it had become clear that there was no going back home. You honestly weren't even sure if you had a home to go back to. The way everything exploded back then. And the nightmares, you had been having trouble sleeping. Everything going up in flames. The people you loved. It was a lot. Sasuke would often rush into your room in the middle of the night when you woke up screaming and tried to comfort you until you fell back asleep. You were starting to appreciate him a lot lately.
And Sakura was doing the most to make you feel welcome in their home and in the village. She prepared all meals for you and was ecstatic the first time you offered to help. The walk back was mostly silent. You gathered that was just his thing. And you didn't want to break the silence and annoy him. When did you care what people thought of you? Your mind was starting to wander again and you were zoning out.
“Hey, are you in there?”
