probably 3 just so there is a special scene for each character? So one is Nadia’s the second could be Julians or Asras and the last one vice versa. :o

After rewatching several episodes of Bones, I’ve realized that I’m still pissed off over the death of Lance Sweets in 10x01 The Conspiracy in the Corpse.

Like, I get that John Francis Daley was leaving the show, but they didn’t have to kill Lance Sweets. They could’ve had the character leave to help people in a different way, or promoted him to leading his own team in another city, or, well, leave for literally any other reason.

Instead, Sweets wasn’t just killed off... no, he was killed off badly. I knew he was going to die early on in the episode because characters kept saying how put together/accomplished Sweets was... when Daisy said she was pregnant with his child, it felt like the final nail in the coffin. Usually Bones has better storytelling than that (with the whole show don’t tell thing), but they apparently had only one episode to kill off the character. 

If they did have to kill Sweets off (which they didn’t), they should’ve taken more time - and more episodes - before it happened to make it less obvious. It was very clear that they were dotting all their i’s and crossing all their t’s when it came to the loose ends surrounding the story of Lance Sweets. Given his backstory and the struggles he endured to make it onto the team, the writers probably thought they owed it to the character to give him more of a solid present and a stolen future... they wanted to give him a “hero’s death” that “meant something.”

Seriously? Lance Sweets life meant plenty. He survived childhood abuse and trauma... not only that, but he grew up and turned that survival into helping others. It took him a solid year to really be accepted on the team, and even longer to be accepted into some of the characters’ confidences. He had strong character development on the show... but the way he died? Blah.

If he had to die and there was only one episode in which to do it, his death should’ve been like Vincent Nigel-Murray... unexpected, yes, with countless loose ends. That’s part of the tragedy. (It’s also realistic, given the line of work they’re in.)

Instead, I felt like the writers kept trying to make the story bigger and bigger and bigger... the conspiracy against Booth/the team/the FBI. It felt artificially inflated and, frankly, kinda lame.
