Boo Seungkwan x Reader

Summary: You jokingly tell Seungkwan that you like his last name and ask if you can have it. Instead of getting shy or flustered, he reacts in peak Boo Seungkwan fashion— by being loud, dramatic, and giving you an entire performance in response.

You and Seungkwan are sitting in a cozy café, sipping on your drinks while casually chatting about anything and everything.

Feeling playful, you stir your coffee and casually say, "I like your last name. Can I have it?"

The café is peaceful. Calm. People are enjoying their coffee in silence.

And then—

“I BEG YOUR PARDON?!”

Seungkwan practically chokes on his drink, slamming his cup onto the table so hard that everyone turns to look at him.

You burst out laughing. “Why are you yelling?!”

He points at you, looking personally offended. “Excuse me?! You can’t just say something like that so casually over COFFEE. What am I supposed to do with this information?!”

You smirk, tilting your head to the side and looking at him with fake innocence. “Say yes?”

He gasps.

“OH, SO NOW YOU’RE PROPOSING? IN A CAFÉ?! OVER AN AMERICANO?! WHERE IS THE ROMANCE, Y/N?!”

You roll your eyes. “Seungkwan, I was joking.”

“No, no, NO!” He dramatically places a hand over his chest. “You don’t just joke about marriage, Y/N. That is SERIOUS BUSINESS. You gotta have a grand confession, maybe a serenade, I need at least a 10-minute speech about how wonderful I am—”

You snort. “You want a whole TED Talk about why I should marry you?”

He flips his hair. “AT MINIMUM.”

Shaking your head, you sip your drink. “Fine. I take it back.”

Seungkwan freezes.

…

“Wait.” His voice drops. “Take it back?!” He suddenly looks panicked. “Hold on, no, I didn’t mean that— WAIT, DO YOU NOT WANT TO MARRY ME NOW?!”

You blink. “I—”

“NO, I REFUSE. I REJECT YOUR REJECTION!” He clutches your hands. “LET ME RECONSIDER MY ANSWER.”

You die laughing. “Seungkwan, oh my God—”

“TOO LATE, I ACCEPT! CONGRATULATIONS, WE’RE ENGAGED!”He throws his arms in the air, making the café patrons stare even harder.

You groan, facepalming. “You’re so embarrassing.”

He grins. “But you love me.”

You sigh dramatically. “Unfortunately.”

Seungkwan smirks. “That’s Boo Y/N to you now.”

Damn it. You walked right into that one.

Bonus:

Later that night, you get a text from him.

ACE I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.

Okay, so there are 3 main Shuriken ships I see and ironically they are ALL Playgrounders: Skateboard, Boombox, and Coil.

With Shuriboard (Shuriken X Skateboard), it was more prominent in the earlier fandom, especially pre-rewrite. It made sense, at the time the two were very similar in personality: both very hyper and chaotic with a hint of confidence in there. It was like a match made in hell. This ship is really known for that one GIF which is funny to me. However, since the rewrite and redesigns, both have mellowed out in their entirety. I haven't seen much with these two since, considering they don't even know each other in lore that well anymore (and I see Skateboard paired with Slingshot). 

With Shuribox (Shuriken X Boombox), it's a very sweet ship. Both are very self-sacrificing, with Shuriken putting his life in danger by fighting crime as Silver Shadow and Boombox always putting the team's defeats on him but their victories on his team. (Sidenote: I'm aware the dialogue in Phights aren't canon, but they are character-accurate.) Both of them left their objectively better lives to join their friends (Shuriken leaving Darkage Clan and Boombox leaving Splintered Skies). The two also contrast each other in a way. Boombox is always surrounded by people he knows, he'd very popular in Playground, but he can't help but feel lonely. He feels he's everyone's friend, but nobody's best friend. This contrasts nicely with Shuriken, who literally only knows about 3 people in Crossroads, and 2 of them are his siblings (the third is his elderly neighbor who he's polite to). Shuriken is genuinely alone, but knows he belongs with his siblings. I think the idea of these two finding company in each other is such a sweet idea, as they could easily comfort each other's anxieties and worries. They're so sweet. Love Shuribox.

Now. Boy oh boy.

Shuricoil (Shuriken X Coil) is the biggest doozy to me. The thing is, they both act as vigilantes, even if Shuriken only properly gets the title. Both fight for what's right, with Coil breaking into Blackrock and distributing some of the crystals to Craterdust Capital, and Shuriken, who literally has the secret identity to go with it. I always had this idea that the two would naturally cross paths during this (of course with Shuriken in his Silver Shadow persona). Considering Silver Shadow doesn't necessarily talk, it'd have to be a very surface level mutual understanding or partnership between the two. However, even outside of Silver Shadow, Shuriken is fully aware of who Coil is. Coil loves coming into Thieves' Rest (where Shuri works) and ragebaiting the hell outta Slingshot (Shuri's brother and also boss). I can only imagine Shuriken finds the ragebaiting funny as hell (that is until he gets put on dishwasher duty). But also, Coil is pretty smart. While inphernals are faceblind, and normally recognize people with their horns, Shuriken paints his horns green when he's Silver Shadow, but he can't change his horn shape. There's a good chance Coil recognizes that horn shape, as he's probably the only inphernal to get a good look at them. It's like Superman and Clark Kent, but if only Batman had ever seen Superman (except not at all). Also, the two are pretty similar personality-wise, and I can see them bouncing jokes off each other in conversation.

Now, I've also seen one or two things for Shuriket (Shuriken X Rocket). I don't have too much to say (except it's funny Rocket also spawned in Playground), except how much they compare and contrast. Shuriken was originally in Thieves' Den, thriving in Darkage Clan, before leaving it all for an objectively worse life in Crossroads, but he's still making the most of it and being positive. Rocket, on the other hand, left his objectively worse life in Playground for a much better one in Crossroads. I don't know Rocket's character nearly as much as I do the other Playgrounders, so I'll leave it at that.

Also Scott still having the crown later? Man. His grief never left him. He's still mourning. "Past loves linger like phantom limbs". Scott is so so haunted by himself and he will never heal and move on. Sure, Jimmy's back, he's here, but its just not the same. Jimmy came back but his husband's still gone.

There's a comic fair/event/festival thingy going on in my city right now and I want to go tomorrow and Saturday to see the panels. One of my favorite Brazilian artists is participating and I really wanna see him.

The thing is... Because the art community in my city is a very small circle and I have worked as an animator here before, I know a lot of the locals that will be there, selling stuff and doing panels, including the organizer of the event (he was my boss before, one of the loveliest people in the world!!).

But the local scene of comic writers are 100% focused on original works, usually talking about day to day lives and personal experiences of being a Brazilian/Amazonian, which is pretty cool and a way of reclaiming our voices, telling our own stories, instead of creating another super-hero who was born in New York City. Like, this is the movement that has be rising here since the 90/2000's

I understand what they want, how important it is for us to represent our culture but... Since the beginning that was not my thing. I'm a fan artist through and through and the thing I love the most in day dreaming about my faves holding my hand and eating overpriced cake with me aksdjlaksdj

So I get hit with a some sort of... shame? insecurity? When I think about talking to these people again. Like, what am I supposed to tell them? What if they ask "what have you been up to?" I don't know if I can say "I've been doing fanarts of Japanese soccer boys and I drew a comic where one of them falls in love with a ghost :)" It makes me feel like I don't belong. The pressure of possibly being judged by my peers made me abandon my old art account and stay years away from creating and posting my own things. Until recently I decided to start all over again, away from the people I knew personally and just focus on what made me happy and motivated to draw. That's how randomghostfriend was created.

I feel out of touch. Like we do the same but completely different things at the same time. I'm not gonna lie, I kinda envy how in places like Japan and Thailand there's this huge doujinshi scene, with festivals centered to fan works, while here we don't have that.

There's also a geek convention that's going to happen next month and I'll go to study a bit how the artists alley work, so maybe I can participate next time. But I've seen the regulations and they prioritize original work and comics. You can participate with fan works, but still... I've never seen a local self publish a fanbook before. Would it be too weird if I tried? Especially being a yume artist, people would probably wrinkle their noses at me. Sorry, there's a lot of self-consciousness and self-doubt talking...
