1. What is your favorite food dish/dishes?
- Hm, I love pasta carbonara, chow mein, and sushi.
2. Do you have a hobby/ past time?
- This year I was the maestra of my University's Tuna where I sing and play transverse flute and we had our first performance outside of our country - we were invited for a Tunas' Festival in Switzerland! A big step for a relatively young group (we're only 7yo). Otherwise I spend most of my time reading (be it research, fanfics or literature) and drawing. I used to write fanfics too but I haven't done so in a while.
3. Favorite colors?
- Teal and forest green.
4. What do you consider to be your spirit animal?
- Probably a wolf (instinctive; social with family and close friends; trust issues; yearning for freedom; family sigil) or a fox (most active at night; increased awareness; quick thinking and adaptability).
5. Most meaningful memory?
-Â I have to admit, this is the one that stumped me. I did all the others and then came back to this one. Let's see...Â
Probably this years’ experience as a maestra.
I’m usually a very quiet person, so this really pushed me to interact more with my friends and fellow tunos. The rehearsals involved a lot more work than I first thought, from coming up with the music alignments and appropriate warming up exercises sometimes weeks previously depending on when we’d have our next performance, listening to all the ideas others had to help improve our group and sorting through them, trying to implement the ones we thought would work and explaining why I thought some wouldn’t work for us, and mostly making them listen to me was a struggle at times.
It also made me push myself as a musician and singer, because I had to broaden my knowledge to other instruments’ particularities and I also had to learn how to help other people properly achieve the vocal notes we needed, so basically I had to learn the mechanics of it for the main 4 voices. On top of that we had council reunions so we oldest could discuss a ton of other technicalities… plus, as I said before we had our very first performance outside of Portugal this year, so I had to help organize the trip...
Most things went well, sometimes I clashed with other people because they wouldn’t listen and insisted in doing stuff their way… guiding 40+ people on a twice a week basis is not easy… but ultimately it helped me develop my self-confidence and grow as a person.
6. Favorite book(s)?
- ... I don't even know where to begin. So. Many. But let's see what comes to mind now - here we go, series first: His Dark Materials, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Sherlock Holmes, A Song of Ice and Fire, Howl's Moving Castle. Others: 'Perfume: The Story of a Murderer', 'Pride and Prejudice', 'Jane Eyre', 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', 'Frankenstein'...... wait. Does manga count? (If so: Fullmetal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto, One Piece, xxxHOLiC.)
7. What comes to your mind when you see the sun set?
-Â I mostly appreciate the colours and surroundings if I happen to be outside. I don't make a point of watching sunsets, though I love stargazing.
8. What song(s) do you identify yourself with the most?
- I can't think of a song in particular, but I always identify more with instrumental pieces. I guess it depends on my mood. I wouldn't say I identify with it, but my favourite song lately has been 'Two Men In Love' by The Irrepressibles.
9. If you had a chance to go back in time to fix the way a certain day went would you do so or no, why or why not?
-Â Probably not. 'Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.'Â I'd have no idea of how changing whatever it was would alter the rest of reality, so it's really better to deal with things as they are.
10. What do you love the most about yourself?
-Â My relative ease in learning new languages! Very useful for my travels. I make a point of knowing at least the basics of the native language before going to a foreign country.
11. Who/ what inspires you?
- I get inspiration from a a myriad of sources; nature, history, art, music, other artists I admire...Â
