Bone Tomahawk
Leon is a monster hunter in the Wild West. He spends most of his time drifting between states and territories, looking for monsters to kill for Mr. Wesker. Mr. Wesker pays him finely for his work, and he doesn't mind doing it. One day, Leon comes to a sleepy town called Bright Hope, where a young girl has gone missing. Her father is hysterical about her. When Leon promises to go save her, he experiences something that will haunt him for the rest of his life. This kind of horror... it shouldn't be inflicted on anyone, let alone an innocent girl like you.

vfg31 horror film challenge: day 19 Ā· period piece
Just watched āBone Tomahawkā (2015) because it was written by the man who wrote Park Chan-wookās next movie and I was obsessed and wanted to get the feel of this upcoming movie, lol.
The screenplay has been mentioned here in the Guardian article back in 2016, and by that time, the script was at least 10 years old already!
The same article also describes āBone Tomahawkā as disturbing, and I wholly agree! I am disturbed⦠but in a āgood movies make you uncomfortableā way. You know?
So, yay. Iām so-so about the main cast, so itās, like, whatever, I donāt mind them at all, but I like Austin Butler in āElvisā and Tang Wei is a goddess, so. I just hope āThe Brigandsā¦ā wonāt be as violent, because Iām a baby š
š½ļø Bone Tomahawk (2015)
Holy crap. I donāt think Iāve ever been affected by a movie as much as I have by this one. I have literally never genuinely screamed at a movie before this one, either. And I donāt mean that this movie was life-changing in an inspiring way. It was violent and gruesome in a way Iāve never seen before and honestly donāt want to see again. Iāve seen things I canāt unsee. Do not watch this movie if you are sensitive to violence at all. Still love Patrick Wilson, though.
Sex/nudity: 3/10 (one brief sex scene with side-boob and some thrusting, very brief male genitalia in a non-sexual scene, butts seen)
Language: 2/10 (nothing stronger than sh*t, some taking of Godās name in vain)
Violence: 10/10 (Iāve never seen a more graphic, gruesome movie, but most of it is in the last 45 minutes or so)
Overall rating: up to the horror that is the ending - 8/10; after the violence - 1/10
