I’ve rotating this concept very abstractly, about a coltland gentry au that is Colt and Jody’s getting together story post Fall Guy.
Very low stakes, mostly character introspection and study about them finally become a real couple and all the awkward conversations they’re going to have because Colt just has a harrowing family history to deal with.
He’s trying to be better, specifically he’s trying to be more honest with her and that involves coming clean about his struggles with chronic pain, about his problems, about his childhood, etc, etc. All of this with the intense fear that she will reject him or step away because he’s too difficult, too broken, not good enough.
Introducing her to Ryland, the twin brother that refused to leave his side after the accident no matter how bad it got, the brother that is charming and smart and kind, the brother that says hurtful things knowingly to keep people at a distance.
Speaking about Court the older brother she will never meet, the one that exists in wrinkled photos and fading memories that looms over the twins like a ghost. The brother that was more like a father than their father ever was that still exists in spaces the twins leave free for him and that create tender spots when disrupted.
I don’t know… something to think about I guess.
