'Did you listen to the probending match last night?'
'Yeah, the avatar's got some serious skill. I wish I coulda seen it with my own eyes.'
Azula's ears perked up as she dragged her feet through the park. It wasn't the first time she heard about probending, but it was the first time she heard the word in the same conversation as the word avatar. And it was the most familiar word she'd heard all day, being stranded in the strange city until she could find a way back home to the Fire Nation.
She'd passed by the probending arena several times, and had come to remember where it was located. It reminded her of a palace, and she was always drawn to it, but never actually went inside. However, if it was her key to finding the avatar, she might as well have a go.
The princess found her way across town and approached the huge arena, passing through the golden doors, out of the warm sunlight and into the cool building. It seemed empty, but she thought she could hear smashing sounds and grunting down the corridor. She followed the noises, her boots clicking against the floor.
Peeking through the doorway, Azula could see a lone boy....an earthbender....punching small discs across the room and into a net. He was very well built, whoever he was...but what on earth was he doing?
"Excuse me. I'm sorry to interrupt...whatever it is you're doing, but...well what are you doing?" She wasn't sure why exactly she cared, but she decided she might as well settle her curiosity before she started asking about the avatar.
