BOLD AVOCADO, you burst onto the scene in the 1970s, decorating kitchens and refrigerators and bathrooms, with your powerful greenish-blackish hue. What was it that caught the eye of post-war decorators? We look back on it and laugh at ourselves, for using such a garish, sad color. Maybe back then it was new and fresh. I remember in 1990, getting my Kitchenaid as a wedding gift. It is “hunter green.” And it seemed fresh and modern back then. Today, not so much maybe.
